Scalpers bought up most of the pre-release dolls, and are relisting them to make a profit. You can buy direct from Mattel at the original price. It'll just be a couple months before you get the doll.

Q: why is the price 42 something when the Barbie's website say its suppose to be 20? the Barbie website even says that amazon is out of stock. why?

Maybe you're look at a third party seller who sales through Amazon. Barbie website is sold out because this item was late 2020 or early 2021
