Mosaic Moments: Devotionals for the Chronically Ill Paperback – January 31, 2003

Hi Lisa, Thank you so very much for writing "Mosaic Moments." I've had the book for quite awhile now and it has meant so much to me. I was discharged from the hospital last Friday after spending 12 days there with acute renal failure, congestive heart failure, severe bradycardia,severe hypotension, severe anemia requiring 2 units of packed cells, and other issues. It is only by the grace of God through the prayers of friends that I am alive today. I keep a "hospital bag" packed since I never know when we'll have to rush over there. Before we left, I made sure that I packed "Mosaic Moments" in my bag and I can never verbalize what it did for me,Lisa! Your loving words and encouraging scriptures got me through some terrifying times. I was also able to share it with many nurses and it touched their lives,too. Thank you for allowing God to work through you and your gift of writing. I can't imagine not receiving that comfort and peace from your book and my Bible! I wish there was some way that hospital chaplains could be made aware of your Rest Ministries website and the access to your many books. Most hospitals have free wi-fi now and many people bring thier laptops with them. It sure would be a wonderful way to lead people to Jesus Christ while giving patients something positive and encouraging to occupy their time. Just an idea.

This book has accompanied me through some of my most challenging days and hospital visits as I live daily with chronic pain/illness. I can't emphasize enough how much comfort I have found in the beautiful words of others who really truly "get it" and have walked similar roads as I. Each "devotion" is full of wisdom, empathy, and a reminder that God is in control and with me, even in the darkest days. I've taken this book everywhere, underlined many passages, written notes in the margins, and referred to some of my favorites when the going gets rough. This is an excellent book for any battling chronic pain and/or illness, or for their friends and family who may be looking for some insight or comfort themselves. Highly, highly recommend.

I purchased this book to read to my Mother who is a nursing home....its a good book, but is geared more to young& mobile but live with pain and other chronic illnesses

If someone is suffering with a chronic health issue, I would highly recommend this book. It's VERY encouraging, and it is written by several chronically ill people, so you don't feel alone and when you're feeling down, pick up the book and read a page, you will most likely feel better. This book was written about 14 years ago yet just as relevant as if written today. This book should be a classic for those suffering.

When I was on vacation last week I was having some very difficult moments I was so grateful to have my kindle and my downladed copy of "Mosaic Moments"!! It literally got me through the evening (tears, pain, and all) at one point! I am grateful to the author for such an honest and heartfelt devotional. It was so meaningful to me that someone understood and could help me bring my focus back to the Lord despite my pain and disappointments. I highly recommend this book regardless of what painful circumstances you may be facing. Despite Lisa's own painful experiences with chronic illness her words weave her love for the Lord Jesus throughout the book and helps the suffering one re-direct her eyes back to the One who understands.

Chronic pain is really difficult to deal with, and is also difficult to address in our friends and loved ones when we haven't a clue what they are going through. This book deals with the issue of pain from a Christian perspective by offering hope to those who suffer with chronic pain, and wonderful suggestions to those of us who know others who are suffering. The experiences chronicled in the book are honest and real...Nothing petty or trite here. Just what I needed.

Throughout the years, I have read numerous spiritual books designed for chronically ill Christians. Mosaic Moments is by far the best of these books. Multiple authors contributed to the selections in the book; thus, the reader can get multiple perspectives. Coping with chronic pain and illness presents physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial challenges. The contributors to Mosaic Moments take a Christ-centered approach as they address the multidimensional nature of chronic illness.

The various authors of the devotions deal honestly with the pain, frustration and raw emotions that come from living daily with chronic illness. They also show the hope available through Jesus Christ. This book will touch you and show you that you are not alone while struggling to cope with chronic illness.
