After shortening the poles, they can be firmly attached to the helmet clip. You can check the Product Description, where there are pictures of how to install the trekking poles.

Can you detach the mouthpiece from the tube and the tube from the bag?

No, I think if you pull the mouthpiece or tube loose it may not go back together. I just run vinegare water through it.

How do you clean the tube and mouthpiece? It's doesn't seem to come apart easily

Great ?......so,(sigh)....yur gonna hve to remove yur bite spout from tube(unfortunately)...smh....if yur not confident in puttin it bck in after removal due to the possibility that it might stretched out,u could hit it with a blow dryer to shrink it bck or (what i suggest is)cut the tube just past the original fit.....works well..do whtevr u feel after that to seal to yur liking.....of course u hve to remove from pack first....thn....fill it with hot(but not too hot) mixture of salt & hot water...shake the hell out of it the best u can without mkn a mess ,of cousre,& simply well rinse with cold water.......try to steer away from soaps & chemical cleaners theyll taint yur bladder......shell is machine washable......just keep the water cold to warm....extrarinse.....ride/shred safe guys&feel free to ask me anything else....i also foundan extremely dope mtb/cycling waterproof light on here as well......this things a beast yo.....peace&blessings
