I'm really glad I had this test done. The instructions inside the kit were super easy to follow and the collection process was simple. All I had to do was spit in a tube. I was blown away by the results!! It's incredible how much information was provided to me based on a tube of spit. Not only did I get to learn about my genetic risks for different health conditions, I also received personal recommendations for improving my health and reducing my risks. I loved that they showed me exactly why they made each recommendation for me, so I know the results were totally personalized. They add new DNA reports weekly, so I'm regularly getting more information based on the test. There are also fun reports about personality and physical features, which have been fun to read with my family. Overall, my health and peace of mind has definitely improved since I took this test. I learned that I'm at high risk for quite a few heart issues. I appreciated that the information was presented in a way that was not scary or discouraging, just informative and action-based. You also get access to detailed reports that include recommendations based on your genetics to get better health outcomes. I don't know much about science or DNA but I found the reports and recommendations easy to understand and it gives me the motivation to make some positive changes because I know the advice is tailored to my body. It even told me that I might have some issues in an area I'd already been diagnosed in, so I have some confidence that their analysis is spot on. Between the easy process, the quality website, and the value of the reports, I'd say it's definitely worth taking the test and seeing what you can find out about yourself.

I'm super happy with the results I received from SelfDecode. The trait reports were fun and, according to my wife, accurate. The wellness reports were very detailed and, based on my family history, were correct. There were a few surprises, which I guess is kinda the point of taking a test like this. Now I know exactly where to focus my attention in terms of my proactive health regimen. I also liked that they provide so many recommendations. I won't do all of them but there were plenty to pick and choose from that I feel I can do. Over all, a great product. If you're thinking about doing a genetic profile, I would go with this one.

I purchased two of another DNA test kits for my kids for Christmas. I then purchased this brand for me. Their kit cost less than mine and they got hundreds of available reports within just a few weeks. No extra fees. Mine gave me nothing related to the heart and several other systems and basically “teaser” results on a few of the others. Very disappointed in what I got for a higher price compared to my son and daughter’s results at a much better cost. Keep in mind that you will have to pay another hundred dollars to even see most of the results. They are locked otherwise. Plus more complicated to navigate the software with the self decode version.

The test itself came with clear instructions and was very easy to do. When taking the test I was a bit skeptical but after seeing the reports, I am amazed at how accurate and insightful the results are. There is also lots of actionable health information based on the latest scientific research with references. Overall it offers a ton of value and I am very impressed. Would recommend it to everyone!

I received my kit and was able to send it off without any issues. I am in a health related field so I was looking for a product with good explanations and support. I enjoyed reading the descriptions of the results on the website- everything is really polished and well-researched. I have been wondering about my caffeine intake and after learning that I am genetically susceptible to caffeine-related anxiety I am backing down on my daily # of cups

About a year ago, I took a similar test with "23andMe" and found results really interesting, especially in terms of various health conditions that I might be more of less susceptible to. I took this test from SelfDecode partly out of curiosity and partly to see how closely it matched with the other company. The result was reassuringly a pretty close match in terms of my scoring "typical likelihood" on most traits and sometimes high or lower than typical on other traits, again pretty much matching the other company. It is important to realize in most cases, the results here are suggestive -- you may more likely to have a disease/trait based on genetics but like there is a 70% chance of rain tomorrow, the numbers they give are tendencies among people with similar genetic patterns. I thought reporting on SelfDecode was very clear, with suggestions as to how to maintain and improve health associated with each of the many reports. Very helpful. One thing the analysis produces is a set of supplements you may want to take based on your results. One thing the firm does is blend together the supplements suggested in capsule form. The 10 or so supplements suggested for me were readily available at my local pharmacy and were pretty standard (e.g. vitamin D). I did check to see what their custom blend would cost, and it was about $100 per month, which seemed pricey to me, given the ingredients were standard -- I think I could have taken a mix of pills (admittedly inconvenient) for much less than this, using the dosages they recommend. I think for the price this is a good product and provides a lot of good information at a lower price than "23andMe." At present, it looks like Selfdecode does not have ancestry analysis, which I found really interesting, and did not have reports for some conditions with a genetic component that may be of interest-- e.g., breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease. It seems as though a number of firms offer this sort of testing, so my advice would be to check with companies to see what they cover in their reports if you have an interest in a specific condition. This is a good report, especially at its price, but I recommend you look around to make sure you are getting info you would like that might be provided by other companies. As a plus, I had some questions and customer service was very good!
