Smoked salt is supposed to smell like clean smoke: hickory, apple wood, whatever they've used. The list of ingredients for "International Spice" "Hickory Smoked Salt" is, and I'm not kidding: "Salt, Liquid Smoke," and it smells like it. The product Liquid Smoke smells like chemicals. Creosote, to be specific. That's not necessarily a slam against the product, which I use from time to time. But it is a slam against this allegedly "smoked salt."This salt has a foul chemical odor, and a clumping texture more suggestive of brown sugar. It's obvious the supplier has done little more than pour liquid smoke into salt. It's a nasty product, and I can't imagine circumstances where anyone would benefit from its use. If you don't mind the peculiar chemical odor, save your money and just buy liquid smoke and salt. I've used real smoked salt for decades, and never encountered anything as foul smelling or clumping as this product. I would never have ordered it in the first place, except real smoked salt has somehow disappeared from all the store shelves in my area. Even my favorite premium spice supplier does not carry it. Strange. But buying this product is not the solution. Do not buy it: it's nasty.

Love my giant stash of Dill Weed! Potato salad time!
Fresh and cheap! I use SO MUCH dill weed each summer making potato salad anytime unexpected guests come over. I mean, the ingredients are always on hand, potatoes keep well, and it's cheap to fill up a crowd on my extra dilly Spud Special!Cut up 4-6 largish potatoes, place chunks in saucepan (if you have a mesh insert, use it), fill to JUST COVER with water, place 5 or 6 whole eggs on top, cover, bring to a boil, boil a couple minutes, turn off, and IGNORE for about 20 minutes. Don't open the lid.Combine 1/3c cider vinegar with 1 tbsp sugar, 2-3 tbsp dill weed, 1 tsp each salt and pepper, 1 tbsp dried celery flakes (OR 1/2 tsp celery seed), and a shallot minced VERY fine (or 1 tbsp dried shallot or onion). Stir well and set aside. This should sit for about a half hour to let the flavors extract into the vinegar. It makes a big difference. When the eggs are cool enough to handle, peel and roughly chop them.Drain the potatoes, put in a bowl, and put the eggs on top.To the vinegar mixture, add 2/3 c mayo. Whisk together and pour over the spuds n eggs.Toss to mix, adding more mayo (you can also add a dollop of sour cream) and/or mashing the potatoes a bit if you like it creamier, and sprinkle with fresh parsley if you feel fancy.

Not dill weed but hay !
One of the reviews sais this taste like hay. I thought maybe is a bit of an exaggeration . Dill weed normally keeps the fragrance and savor for years. If it is Dill weed. Where I come from half of the dishes are made using this spice. In little farms people gather it and hang it to dry in sheds . Bouquets , long stems and all for years. So I know how it should smell and taste. This is anything but dill weed . The jar came unsealed but Im sure this is not the reason for being so bad. Customers are attracted by the large quantity so they take a chance hoping for the best. Like I did. Returns are not accepted Hm ! I wonder why . Maybe because they know 90% of the customers would want to return it. My advice ? Don't be fooled .Even though is just $9.99 is not worth it because is gonna end up the trash anyway ! No wonder Ive never heard of this brand. Stick with what you know !

Mostly corn starch. Very little horseradish
There is very little horseradish taste. Almost no bite at all. I believe this might be 95% corn starch. There is a zero return policy. My photo shows how to use this product.

It is not dark red from the shell of the pepper.
There is a lot of white in it, like there is seeds ground up with it. I have not opened it to use it. I just bought more Ancho chili to remove the seeds and just grind up the shells. It looks like dark red chili powder when I am done. I use a lot of Ancho Chili powder, like when I make chili without chili powder. I makes Barbecue sauce pretty easy. I added some ketchup, and it tasted like barbecue sauce. I mix peppers together with some ancho chili powder and chipotle chili to make great hamburgers flavor. I use 2 tablespoons in 2 pounds of Chicken Fajitas, and they taste great. There just seems to be a lot of uses for Ancho Chili enough to need a big bottle of it.In the hamburger flavoring, I use onion power, Garlic powder, Ancho chili powder, chipotle powder, and cayenne powder. It has enough heat, that will make it taste hot with it mixed in the meat, but has a great flavor with it sprinkled on the hamburger while cooking.

could have been better.
package was destroyed when I got it, half of the product was gone, and had spilled and leaked out, so what I had left was okay, except for the clumping from being exposed to moisture after the lid was undone during shipping. It had to be loose when placed in the shipping bag, because the bag was sealed and the lid was off. otherwise taste was okay.
