SA Fly Line Backing, Dacron, 30 lb Test, Orange - 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 600 up to 5000 yds (200 yds)

Let's face it, backing is never going to be a category for a Nobel Prize. It's pretty utilitarian. But given this, the SA dacron is a fine example of the genre in my view. I'd switched away from dacron to try "superlines" aka "braid" for a bit. And I've sprung for the fancy Hatch backing for my steelhead beast hunting rods. While both of the higher end have some theoretical advantages, I've landed far more fish that have taken me to my dacron backing and it's never failed. One thing in particular about the SA -- I like to do just simple loops on the end (secured with 2 very simple double surgeons knots an inch apart). This backing holds those knots very well. As for color--I'm not one to accessorize, I just happened to get this orange, but there's some tiny bit of "refreshing" in the change from the classic white. YMMV.

Backing does what it is meant to do, I like the bright color so I can look and easily see how much line is out, good price and ties easily to my fly line
