This product is a great for new students of chess to learn how to play, learning cards are also included. I purchased the electronic chess for my 8 year son, he and I are enjoying it very much. You can also play against the computer. Will be good to pack for outdoor trips.

It was a bit difficult to figure the game board menu system out at first, but i got there. The pieces also have to ben pushed onto the board, kinda like a button but not, for the game to register a move. and it needs a bit of pressure for the move to register. outside of that, game works like a charm, and was fun to play, especially for my first chess game in years.

The media could not be loaded.  I played chess when I was young and wanted to reacquaint myself to the game. This chess set is quite involved and I had to read the instructions a couple of times before I started playing. For the brand new player it comes with a complete set of cards which tell what every piece can do including the special moves like castling and en passant. It also comes with complete instructions for chess play.Then there are various options for actually playing with the electronic board. During a “normal” games you can opt to have a tutor or not. The tutor tells you “be careful” or “are you sure”. This can be annoying but helpful. In order to take a wrong move you have to push the escape button. The computer can also be set to a level in which it makes mistakes or can be set to many different modes such as timed moves or Rated moves.There are a number of exercises ( actually 100) you can do to learn correct chess moves.I think this is a great game for expanding your chess knowledge. It’s also includes everythingfor beginners but I think I would be frustrated if I tried to learn chess from scratch from this game

The media could not be loaded.  My god... this feels like we transported back to the early 90's... maybe this would have been impressive back then, but this is extremely outdated.Although it says you can play 2 player human to human, there is NO 2 player mode! That is misleading.So annoying that the battery compartment is held down by a screw and it requires 4 AA batteries.The LCD should at least be backlit - it's so difficult to see.The "talking" feature is annoying and limited.It's clearly a Chinese product with typos on the manual.It's annoying having to press down on the current position and then press down again on the new position and it doesn't always register.I love chess, but everything about this product feels so outdated. It's extremely overpriced.

Great item for a gift. It is made of high quality material, has a good smell, an electronic scoreboard, and has educational content. Our 5 year old loved the gift. Happy to study.
