a warm hug
Well this one was just a warm hug. I felt for sure that I knew how it would end but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.Sloane is a librarian. She finds herself excessively average. Her life is average. Her fiancé is lovely but boring. She goes through the motions of her days and the only thing she truly loves are books. And then Arthur MacLachlan comes into her life. He’s a cantankerous old man who likes nothing more than to spar and try to make everyone else as miserable as he is. But for some reason, that just sparks a passion in Sloane. She looks forward to their arguments. But then he doesn’t show up at the library for a few days and she gets worried. She ends up going to his house (and losing her job for using library resources to get there). He has broken out of the hospital and keeps chasing his nurses away. So Sloane takes over. With the help of nosy neighbor Maisy, grandson Brett, Sloane’s friend Mateo who happens to be a registered nurse, and Nigel, Arthur’s sworn enemy, they start a book club and start finding ways to move forward and really enjoy their lives. It was really sweet and pleasant and now I guess I have to add Anne of Green Gables to my list.

Everything I needed in a book when I needed it!
This book is about a grumpy old man that torments the librarians. One day he stopped showing up causing one of them to go in search for him. They begrudgingly create a book club that collects more people as it goes. This book was everything I needed at this moment. It was a super cozy read that gave me a feeling of being enveloped in a warm hug. I didn’t want it to end!The book has multiple POV and different characters pick what book they read. It’s full of quotes from other literary works of that any book fan would love.
