Will these work and stay in place if used over a wall to wall rug?

No, it does not stay in place at all. I keep having to adjust it every time I walk into the bathroom because its bunched up somewhere.

We returned ours. It was of good quality and did look good but like you we found it a bit smaller then we expected. If I remember it was about 24 X 36. You could try asking the seller for a perhaps more accurate dim.

I couldn't tell you exactly how thick it was, but I sent it back. I was looking for another brand that I bought from Amazon and they no longer had it. Couldn't find it anywhere. Maybe they quit making it?
