Installed 2 of the three segments only as there were ample height. Very sturdy, in fact I strengthened the deck below the fittings, as these poles will not budge. Very happy with the purchase.

I live in the south and wanted to put up a sun shade over the driveway to help keep the car from baking in the sun when it's left outside. One end of the sunshade is attached to the outside wall of the garage but I didn't have anything to attach the other end to! I thought of using my Harry Potter Elder Wand to conjure up some poles but I lost it in one of the ravines at Hogwarts so I had to switch to plan B. I poured me a couple of pads on either side of the driveway and sunk some galvanized tie downs into the concrete when it was wet. These poles, or stancheons, or whatever you want to call them, come with compression bolts that you'd drill a hole into the concrete for and then hammer in. I didn't want to go that route so that's why I went with the tie downs. While the concrete was still wet I set the base of the pole on the concrete to leave an impression then sunk the tie downs where the outline of the 4 holes was left in the concrete, made sure they were straight, and left to dry overnight, The poles come in three sections, one section slides onto the other and you can choose from 3-ish feet, 6-ish feet, or 9-ish feet for a height. I opted for 9 feet because I had to get an SUV under them. Assemble the poles on the ground (use a piece of 2x4 and a hammer to get the pieces to seat fully), attach the D-loop ring to the top of the pole, tighten the 14mm nut/bolt, then put on the end cap. It's not a very difficult task to assemble these but it does take time to get all the prep work done. I set up two of these poles and did the job by myself and the entire assembly process probably took around a half hour for each post.Downside. There are three sections to the post and the end of each piece is pre-drilled so the pieces can be screwed together when completed. No screws were supplied, which seems very odd to me...

Heavy steel, we’ll made. The sections fit together solidly. Took about 4 bangs with sledge hammer to join them. Barely deflected when I tensioned the shade sail to it at the very top

The tarps and hardware are great. We did have to buy additional cord for the corner pieces. Has withstood two storms so far.

Buying the mounting screw assembly to go with it is a must. By burying the mounting screws in a 16 inch diameter and 24 inch deep concrete block, this pole was the perfect solution for anchoring the sun shade sail. You can put a lot of tension on the sail without the pole bending at all. Very easy to assemble the three pieces and has a nice cap for the top to keep out the rain. Would definitely buy again.

We recently had a wind storm that was high wind but not extreme. The pole was holding 1 end of a 26x21x20 triangular sail. The pole bent almost in half near the base. The footing held with no issues or movement but pole is not as strong as claimed. Very disappointing for all the claims of strength and stability. I even has a counter cable attached to help stabilize the pole. Now they want me to return the pole but it is impossible to separate the sections.
