Tender, magnetic cast, interesting plot, & sweetly hot moments make this a fantastic read.
After witnessing something crazy scary Drew Metcalf runs. Ending up at Hair of the Dog he meets a gigantic man who, instead of freaking him out makes him feel safe and settled. But when the very thing he's running from chases him to the bar that's become his refuge, he learns some truths he never expected. Meshaq can't help but be drawn to the skittish man and if that means he'll commit to protecting him, and maybe wooing him too, he's all for it. Except outside forces are setting the stage for a magical coup and plan for Drew to be a part of it; Meshaq isn't about to let that happen. With all the changes going on and the stress of being thrust into a world he'd been blissfully unaware of, Drew is going to have to decide if a future with the hulking shifter with a soft heart is possible or if he'll go back to running.I was in love with Meshaq before when he was huge, scary, protective, and awed by the trust given him by six lost cubs. Seeing another side of him here, the doting, affectionate, generous, sweetly awkward man made me love him all the more. He gained depth, more facets for us to see and understand who he is and what he prizes above all things. My favorite though, was his courting. The way he would get eager like a puppy, awkward and shy at times, and then the adorably proud moments when his efforts were positively acknowledged...who wouldn't fall in love with this man?His fierce protection of his pack and carrying out his duty to his goddess gave us an idea why the darkness targeted them. Aside from the omega issue, there was immense goodness in this fierce pack and it made sense to threaten them with the evil that could taint that and disrupt the balance.Drew is a fantastic partner for Meshaq. I enjoyed how naturally he fell into the role without even realizing it. It seemed that his natural personality was given sanctuary and then allowed to flourish. While I would have liked to know more about him as an individual, such as his origins and motivations beyond finding safety, I did find that I learned enough to like him quite a lot. I absolutely believe that he is nurturing and strong enough to carry out his future role. The side characters are engaging without stealing the spotlight and the dramatic events unfolding around everyone progresses in such a way that we're drawn in and left in anticipation for more when this book ends. What I like about the way this story ended is that it's a set-up for the series and not a gimmick to get you to find out what happens. The relationship is set on a path clearly headed for awesomeness despite the magical happenings that could threaten it and both Drew and Meshaq are solidified in place as alpha and alpha's mate. Having the pack support them and all be in on the learning curve that goes along with the magical changes in Drew gives us insight into and hope for each member of the family.I'm not sure I can fully convey to you my eagerness for more from this series. I found myself smiling and having giddy moments as well as edge-of-my-seat moments where I couldn't put the book down. Well, let's be honest here. I didn't put it down once I started. But those anticipatory moments were enough that I consciously went somewhere I couldn't be interrupted until I finished the story. So. Dang. Good!

love this story
Rating: 4.25🌈I’m on a journey to read all of Macy Blake’s series in the Champions universe as I sort of backed into it from the latest series written. I wanted to get a full foundation and a better understanding of all the characters and their interlocking relationships.I meant to start at the beginning but Hellhounds! I can’t resist a Hellhound story, doesn’t matter the author. So here I am. At the start of the Hellhound Champions series.Hell On Earth (Hellhound Champions #1) by Macy Blake is a terrific story. I was immediately pulled into this universe and the characters situations. This is mid-range the overall multi series arc, so I had an idea of where I was in the interconnected universe timeframe. We first get a feel for the bar, employees, and Meshaq, the alpha Hellhound, who runs it as a safe haven for unknowing humans and supernaturals alike, as long as all abide by his rules. He’s been slowly gathering a small pack of odd beings who needed sanctuary and found it with his walls and protection. All under the guidance of his Goddess. Then a hunted human , Drew Metcalf, arrives to change everything.Blake does a great job of creating sympathetic characters, especially Drew, who draw us to them. But it’s not just Drew. But Cody, Walt, and others there who are vulnerable in different aspects that will make us care for them too. This pack , a special found family, that will continue to grow, quickly establishes a place in a reader’s heart.Surrounding them is Shaq and the other Hellhounds. Those are equally strong and fascinating. Introduced in the previous novels, which are still on my TBR list, some will be getting their mates in this series. Shaq is a strong personality. His romance with Drew is sweet and sexy , as well as falling into the fated mate category. There’s a few suspenseful elements here to the storyline and some questions about their relationship as they are really the first of the mated couples to appear. So much of the history of what they are to each other , and to the pack is lost.I get the idea that may change in the future stories.I was entertained and enjoyed this story. I’m quickly onto the next! As my journey continues, I’m recommending this book and the series I’ve read to date.Happy reading!

My new favorite
I have decided Meshaq is my new favorite. Seeing him in his element was amazing. He’s is so much more than an enforcer. He has a huge heart. I am downloading the next book right now!!!

Le sigh
The instalove in this one was set to max. These two were hooked up by day two. Which was awesome.Ok so Shaq is the Super Alpha of all otherworldly beings on earth and Drew is a human running from guys who have been stalking him. Cause you see Drew is "Super Special" and has a scent that is very attractive to non humans. Im gonna spoil this and tell you that he smells like doughnuts. He becomes even more special as the story goes on.Anyway, Shaq realized that Drew is his mate, which is very rare. They get together and start making the hellhound pack better. Serious things happen, fights occur, the goddess makes them mates permanently. This was my second time reading this. When I first read this I knew nothing about omegas. This time I read about Drew making a distressed omegan sound and I squealed. The maybe baby at the end was the cherry on the sundae.

Chosen One Hellhound Champions
I adore this entire universe that Macy Blake has created. For anyone looking at this but have yet to read The Chose One, do yourself a favor and read it. This book possibly could be read as a standalone, but I wouldn’t recommend starting that way. There are things that happen in other books that enhance this one.Just do yourself a favor. Go read them all. In the order that the author gives on her website. You’re welcome ☺️

Good in parts
Good in parts.I liked the characters of Shaq and Drew, and the staff at Shaq’s bar, though I felt there were inconsistencies that jarred. Shaq is supposed to be fearsome and terrifying even in his human guise, but you never really see that. Most of the time he is more of a chocolate coated marshmallow. Drew comes on scene as a panicked runaway, yet in very short order he seems quite at his ease, providing comfort and support to all around him. Possibly this is meant to presage a big reveal that happens much later on, but I found the change too rapid and complete. It really fell apart for me in the last part of the book where the goddesses appeared and the dialogue suddenly became very clichéd with ‘chosen ones’ and ‘dark ones’.2.5 stars

Oh hell yeah!
A new year and a new author to me - Macy Blake. This Series was the inspiration behind Charlie Cochet’s, Paranormal Prince Series, so if you were a fan like me, you are gonna love the hell out of this Series.Firstly, we need to forget Cerberus....he’s just sooooooo last year. This year we have a new Hellhound on the block. And his name is Meshaq. And he’s truly hellmazing. As you may have gathered, he’s a Hellhound and also Alpha to his Hellhound Pack. They are the Fire Goddess’s, Champions. They protect the human realm and defend the secrets of the supernatural world. In this first book of the Series, we see how Shaq ‘adopts’ humans (those that need help) into his Pack, without them actually realising that Shaq and his friends are non-human. Or do they???And does Shaq realise that true Mates are not a myth and that his latest ‘adoptee’ is exactly that???Oh hell yes!And is it possible that they can be blessed by the Goddess???Oh hell yes!And is that a puppy on it’s way???Oh hell yes!Or maybe that’s oh hell no???Still unsure on that one 🤷♀️But what I’m 100% sure on, is that this was a Oh Hell Yes, 4* read for me and I’m already on Book 2.

mm hellhound fluff
Oh I’m back on the paranormal mm train and I love it. Great protector hellhound and his gang sorry pack of misfits protecting the humans from the whims of paranormal types finds his mate who happens to be one of the mythical… oops wait spoiler. There is some baby spice, fluffy feelings and bogeymen with magic and bar work. All round enjoyable read.
