A Perfect Pair Of Oatmeal That You Can Choose To Cook Based On Which Best Fits Your Schedule
Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats Organic Oatmeal Variety Pack is a perfect set as it includes both quick cooking and traditional steel cut oats so you can cook the package that best fits your time schedule. For mornings I have more time, I cook the steel cut oats as it takes between 15-20 minutes of cooking time (or longer for a creamier oatmeal). When I am running a little late, I can cook the quick cooking steel cut oats as it only takes 7 minutes (or longer for creamier oatmeal). The difference between the quick cooking and traditional steel cut oats is that the quick cooking steel cut oats are cut into smaller pieces on a specialized rotary granulator mill. Traditional steel cut oats are also known as pinhead oats or Irish oats. The manufacturer included instructions for both stovetop and slow cooker, as well as, for 1-4 servings. I've never made or eaten steel cut oatmeal before so in my first effort, I made 2 servings using the quick cooking steel cut oats. It was very easy to make as I only needed oats, water, and salt. I found that 9 minutes was the ideal cook time for me. The oats were creamy and had a delightful nutty flavor with a tender chew. I found that the traditional steel cut oats took me about 24 minutes to cook to reach my ideal texture where it was creamy with a tender chew. On my first try, I only added honey and cinnamon so I could really enjoy the oats. In my later efforts, I used milk to boil the oats and added walnuts and raisins. I soon found myself adding different fresh fruits and nuts to top the oatmeal. I found that the company website lists many recipes you can consider trying. I have noticed that I feel full for longer when I eat a meal of oatmeal and that I have limited my snacking as a result. The pair of 16oz resealable bags are easy to store in the pantry or take with you when camping. It is also ideal to keep in an earthquake preparation kit. There are about 17 servings per container with each serving size amounting to 1/4 cup. There are 140 Calories, 2.5g Total Fat, 25g Total Carbohydrate, and 4g Protein in one serving of quick cooking steel cut oats. In traditional steel cut oats, there are about 15 servings with 1/4 cup totaling one serving. There are 170 Calories, 3.5g Total Fat, 31g Total Carbohydrate, and 4g Protein. Both products are Non GMO Project Verified, USDA Certified Organic, Kosher, and 100% Whole Grain. Both products are also winners of The Golden Spurtle Award World Porridge Making Championship in Carrbridge, Scotland. The product I received has a best by date of 10 months from the date I received it. I really fell in love with steel cut oats and will definitely be adding this to my Amazon cart again.

Healthy and easy breakfast
While these pinhead oats are definitely more labor intensive, they are very much worth the extra effort. Plus, you can always make a big batch and refrigerate the leftovers so you can eat them throughout the week. The flavor of these Irish oats was far richer and nuttier, allowing for a delightfully scrumptious breakfast. I also loved that these oats were chewier in texture than rolled oats. For those of you who like an added rich nuttiness to your oatmeal, I highly recommend toasting the oats in a little butter or oil before cooking. I use it every morning now in my yogurt. I mix it with almonds, dried cranberries, and a bit of flax meal and put fruit on top. This has less sugar than granola but serves a similar purpose. I figured that this would be a good way to cut down on sugar since I like putting something like granola in my yogurt, but it doesn't need to be as sweet.

Organic oatmeal
Summary: I remember a time when organic and non-organic was the delimiter, but now just being organic is insufficient. I generally prefer the steel cut version, because it has more substance as compared to the instant stuff. Previously reviewing the Better Oats below (individual packs, so a little more expensive).Pros: Organic, bulk package (so less cost); Bob's Red Mill has been around for a long while.Cons: None for now. Conclusion: At $15 for 32 servings ($0.47/serving), rating this 5-stars.Related Products:Better Oats - Organic - Oatmeal Maple Brown Sugar (Pack of 4 of 8 Pouches)4.3 out of 5 stars 20 ratings$19.99 ($0.63 / serving)https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09VNQRZRFBetter Oats Organic Instant Multigrain Hot Cereal with Flax - Kosher Pareve, 11.8 oz (4 pack of 8 Pouches)$19.99 ($0.63 / serving)https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0864M27TV

Excellent Texture, More Complex Flavor Than Rolled Oats, Great For Rushed Or Slow Mornings
These are excellent quality steel cut oats! I like that this variety pack includes both quick and traditional oats so that you're covered on both rushed mornings or on days when you want a good breakfast. These oats are, as always from Bob's Red Mill, very high quality. They cooked up well and taste just as steel-cut oatmeal should. They have a nice texture and a little more crunch than your standard oatmeal with a thick, almost creamy consistency that tastes deeper and more complex than your traditional rolled oats.My only recommendation on this would be to add in a splash of milk after cooking- they don't cook up well if you add milk in the beginning.Overall, these are excellent steel cut oats! They taste better than rolled oats with a more nutty flavor and a slightly crunchy texture. Add a splash of milk and some maple syrup, and these are the perfect, hearty breakfast!

Easy to cook and delicious
These two packs of organic oatmeal comes in two different styles. One pack is organic quick cooking steel cut oats and the pack is about 22 oz. of product. It’s very easy and quick to cook as it gets ready in about seven minutes so it’s a great option for mornings that you don’t have enough time to prepare your breakfast. The other pack is organic steel cut oats and the pack contains of 24 oz. of product. They are both so delicious and I love having them with fresh cut fruits and a little bit of honey.
