We bought this to aid in hot tub maintenance. It's one of those little details you don't often get told about, nor is it in any booklets you receive with the tub, but it's something you'd like to routinely monitor for water quality. This seems to work quite well too. Used it twice, and though it varies from the pool stores meter when running full tests, I am to believe this might actually be more accurate too. It's also a great deal for the price, and will save time vs. having to run a sample to the pool store which is closed before I even get out of work. Simple to use, no calibrations, no chemicals. Definitely helps make maintenance a little easier, and that gives you a little more piece of mind too.

Dependable, reliable and accurate time after time. We live and travel in our 5th wheel full time so we're in a different park every one to three months and sometimes their in different states or different parts of the country that means different water supplies with different possible issues we have onboard water filters and inline filters but we still check the water at the source and in the rig when we arrive at a new park and at least every couple weeks while parked just to make sure our water filters are working properly and are protecting us. Clean water is a must for drinking, cooking and showering so changing the water supply often has the possibility of causing issues with our health checking the water quality couldn't be easier that what this great little tester is it's as simple as turning it on and placing it is a glass or cup and reading the information it provides we can use this anytime and anywhere we are and know immediately if the water were using is clean and safe. This tester is small enough to fit into any overnight bag, drawer or anywhere else you want to keep it it's fast, reliable and goes a very long time before needing new batteries and the first set of batteries are even included as well as a nice leather case to store the tester in. The tester can be used to test aquarium water , pool water or any other body or type of water I know we feel much better when we know as much as possible about the water we're using and giving our Grandkids when they travel with us having and using this portable water tester has given us a valuable tool and peace of mind and control of our water quality.

No, the battery does not last the “whole lifetime” of the meter. You do not specify “how long” does the meter last before the entire device must be replaced. So, does the ENTIRE DEVICE have to be replaced when the battery runs out?! I purchased this device back in 2018. It has been working just fine. However, just today I powered it on and the LCD screen did not display anything. I pulled out the circuit board thinking I just needed to replace the coin cell battery (CR 2032). To my surprise, the battery was wrapped around with some yellow plastic and fused to the device contact terminals. It was not meant to be removed, which is a silly design. I had to use a small plier and small flat headed screw driver to slowly remove the batter from the two terminals. The yellow plastic housing around the battery you no longer need so just dispose of the battery and that garbage yellow “wrapping”. Replaced the battery in the same location the original was found. Used small electrical tape to secure the battery and terminals. Slide it back into the plastic case and powered it back on. The LCD is now brighter than ever and testing different water sources works (try tap water, then bottled water, etc). Now in the future I can replace the battery and just use electrical tape to keep it secured again. The LCD color is nice as it shows RED when water PPM hits above 40 (my case it showed 320!). Bottled water from two separate sources showed 15 ppm and 7 ppm. It’s a tiny lightweight device that easily fits into your pocket or backpack if traveling. The clinic cell battery should last for years but for the company to purposely FUSE the battery to the terminals is annoying. However, looking at the latest photos of this product today, it seems like they changed the battery compartment design. Now you may be able to easily remove the battery for replacement. Taking away one star only because of past flawed design, but it may have been redesigned today. Either way, I was able to DIY to resolve the battery replacement issue for my 2018 model. Other than that, I do recommend this device.

It test water quality but it is confusing, in terms of functionality bc it has a red or green backlight but i dont think that has anything to do with water quality rather TDS. I can not 100 percent confirm the accuracy bc I doont know much about TDS and only have 1 tester. its build its decent but the battery cap sometimes fall off. it did come with a cute carrying case. it reads almost instantly so there is no wait time for results and overall not bad of value for money.
