It has become my desk
When I got my Big Board, instead of placing it on top of a wobbly (in my opinion) regular ironing board, I put mine on top of a rectangular folding card table that is slightly smaller than the Big Board. I also ordered a Big Board cover and strapped that on around the table below with the attached velcro for added stability. I have never had any problems with it becoming unstable, and I've used it now for two and a half years (at the time of this review).I had been using my folding table for sewing and crafting, but it was too small and I still had to use a separate ironing board for ironing. Now I have this huge workspace that I use for all my sewing and crafting needs. Of course my sewing machine has its own separate, dedicated sewing desk. I use my Big Board as a desk, ironing board, cutting board, laptop station, for pattern alterations and design, paper crafting (with a protective cover when using glue), and anything else my sewing and crafting activities require. One of the best things about it is that since it is on top of a table, it's sturdy, and it's the best height for sitting (which is the same height as my sewing machine station). I no longer have to stand to iron! I have my Big Board sitting about 4 feet from my sewing desk. I keep my chair in between them and all I have to do is swivel back and forth to sew and then press. Anyone who sews knows that sewing requires pressing after almost every step, so it's vital to have the ironing surface close by. It's so easy to just swivel around and do my pressing without having to stand and walk over to an ironing board! While being perfect for pressing my working pieces, it's also fantastic for ironing lengths of fabric after I wash them in preparation for a project. I no longer have to press one side and then turn the fabric around to do the other side; the entire width of the fabric fits on my Big Board. Talk about a time saver! Plus, not having to stand while ironing saves my poor back.As a side note: irons take about 15 amps of electrical power to run. I only had two plugs I could use for all the electrical elements in my sewing and crafting room. So I had an electrician install a separate plug in the floor next to a corner of my Big Board. This also kept me from having to step over the iron cord when leaving the sewing/ironing area (big tripping hazard!). He then installed a separate, dedicated circuit of 20 amps for my iron. Now I no longer get short-outs from having too much electrical drain on any one plug. This all cost about $400, but it was worth every penny. I unfortunately must move to a new house soon, but I plan to have the same thing done in my new sewing room as soon as possible.I don't know what I did before getting this Big Board. It has proved itself to be one of the most valuable components in my sewing room. I wouldn't want to sew without it.

Awesome ironing board!
This was easy to hook on to my ironing board and WOW what a difference! I wish I would have found this years ago! It is a little heavy but I put it on myself. I also ordered the Tivit ironing board cover. It is so nice to ironing big pieces of material.

Amazing addition to my sewing room
I love this overlay. It's simple to install, and it gives me the added tabletop space I needed in my sewing room. I use it to iron quilt yardage, quilt tops during assembly, and to roll my quilt sandwiches. I can see myself putting it to good use for so many other things, too.Be aware this thing is heavy. It's not too heavy to be manageable, but my ironing board groaned, leaned, and collapsed soon after I set it up. I guess the overlay shouldn't be to blame for crushing a 15-year-old cheap T-leg ironing board, but I would suggest a sturdier 4-leg ironing board to better support the weight. Also, consider purchasing or making a thicker padding if you intend to use it primarily for ironing (especially with steam). The one that comes with it is rather thin, so it won't take long for the surface of the table to delaminate and bubble up. I plan to purchase some 100% cotton quilt batting to make a custom pad for mine. All that having been said, I would still highly recommend this product for anyone who quilts, tailors, or just needs a little extra usable surface.

Best ironing board ever!
Very stable seated atop my existing board. Stable and solid enough to put my cutting mat on and use to cut fabric. The absolute best for ironing yardage for quilt backs.

Just what I needed
I’m enjoying having a large ironing area for my quilting. I’ve put it over 2 small matching end tables which are a perfect height for sitting and sewing without having to stand every time I need to press something. Glad I have it. I will need to sew new covers when needed as they are pricey to replace….but easy to make.

Works great
I’m so tired of ironing tablecloths & napkins on a too-small surface. This sturdy, wide board fixed a lot of problems. Excellent purchase.
