An Excellent Camera Bag for Day Trips and Weekend Photo Outings
I had been looking for a smaller sling bag to replace my large Tamrac photo backpack for day and weekend photo outings when I came across the HAZARD 4 Freelance on Amazon Warehouse. I decided to give it a shot. I’ve had my Freelance for about a year and a half now and I have to say that I really love it. I also have the HAZARD 4 Jelly Roll lens case attached to it. At the time I purchased my Freelance, I had a Canon Rebel T6i with a battery grip attached. The two lenses I use most are the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6and the Canon EF 24–105mm f/4L. I found that my T6i with the grip fit very well with either lens attached and whichever lens was not mounted easily stowed in the well-padded Jelly Roll case. A few months back, I traded up to the Canon 5D Mark IV. I did not opt for the battery grip this time because I felt it would make the already large 5D a bit too heavy and unwieldy. Also, the 5D has much better battery life than the T6i so I felt the extra battery capacity was not necessary. I was a bit concerned that the larger 5D wouldn’t fit as well in the Freelance. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it fit just fine both with both the 24-105 as well as the 70-300 attached. There are a number of reviews here complaining that the Freelance is not roomy enough. I have to disagree. At the end of the day, it all comes down to how you’re looking to use it. If I’m planning to go on a long trip and want carry a bunch of extra gear, then I’d opt for my Tamrac backpack. With that said, the vast majority of my photo outings are daytrips and for that, I find the Freelance to be the perfect pack, especially with the add-on Jelly Roll lens case. It’s relatively light, highly configurable, and has plenty of nooks and crannies to store all of the extras like lens cleaning cloths, cables, extra batteries, a flash, lens hoods, and even a poncho. I also like the MOLLE integration which allows me to easily attach a tripod, hang my keys and sunglasses, and fasten various clips and straps within easy reach for when I need them. I find the construction of Freelance to be exceptional. It’s very sturdily built and all clasps fasten securely. It also swings easily from back to front for quick access to my camera. About the only thing the Freelance leaves me wanting for would be a bit more room for my Microsoft Surface. For me, this, is a very minor complaint as I typically don’t need to bring my laptop with me on day trips and if I do, I just toss it into a sleeve. I really love my Freelance and would highly recommend it for day or weekend photo outings. I’ve included some photos with this review to show how I have my Freelance configured and how well my gear fits.

Quality, Modular and Spacious
I received this bag quickly and without incident. Props to to the processing and delivery folk. Item is flawless and feels very quality. I condensed 2 bags/setups into 1. This bag is currently packed with an ole Nikon FE 35mm camera w/ neck strap and DJI Avata drone along with remote and goggles in the main pouch. I was able to move and position the velcro partitions exactly where I wanted. (mind the velcro is strong and sticks well with the slightest touch to the fabric. This bag is also packed with extra rolls of 35mm film, drone batteries (3), cables (which are many), chargers, SD cards and spare propellers. Tripods are also strapped down with the exterior side straps. With all of this packed and mobile everything is accessible individually. I can pull out only the camera or the drone without having to empty the bag to do so. All contents feel very well protected and secure. I was concerned about the size of the strap as I am a larger, more broad individual and the strap adjusts plenty to fit my body. All in all I highly recommend this camera bag... for anyone. The only suggestion I have is to lubricate the zippers. I just happened to have some zipper lube and applied it to all of the zippers. The lube made the zippers glide smoothly, even around the many corners the zippers don't like. Just buy the mf if you read this. lol

Excellent for limited gear
This bag is an awesome photo bag!!! The quality is excellent and the bag is constructed very well. It is light weight yet we'll padded, protecting the gear from bumps and drops. The size is adequate for a full DSLR setup with lenses or a couple of mirrorless camera bodies plus lenses or one of those and a drone kit. It is not big enough to haul all your gear for a photo shoot (there is a Photo Recon bag from Hazard 4, a Pillbox and a roller called Air Strike for that). This is great for a hike with modest gear. The molle let's you expand the capacity a bit with a jelly roll for instance for another lens, but I think the point of this bag is not to be able to drag your kitchen sink with you. The strap is comfortable and more of less infinitely adjustable. I would recommend this bag as a better alternative to the usual photo bags that get sold.

Small but Awesome
I feel like I need to echo what other have said already but focus on the positives and negatives of this bag to help others make a right decision for them. I use this for day hikes, and excursions, far from that of a professional, I am a hobbyist. Positives: Solid bag, very well constructed, strap is comfortable bar none (my main reason for the purchase, as a said, I am a hiker), pockets for days, easy access side panel for quick retreval, looks awesome for all the military types out there. Negatives: Smaller, 1 camera and two lenses, nothing too long. Inner dividers not well thought out. If this bag was just 1-2 inches longer it would be perfect. Over-all I bought this bag knowing it was smaller because I wanted smaller and I wanted comfort. Glass is heavy on hikes. I use a D5500 which has a smaller camera body. My D7200 fits but if I want to wrap it, it is a tight fit. 1-2 inches more would allow quite a bit more versatility but this should not dissuade you if your looking for a compact day pack, this bag is awesome and I am nit picking a bit here because I will not return this bag.

Awesome!
Awesome sling pack! I love how tough and modular it is. A little smaller than I realized it would be, but that was a failure of research on my part.

Zipper might be an issue later
Just what I needed although limited on pouches and space but it's definitely expandable. Comes with dividers. Not sure how long the zipper will last, they are quite small/thin?

You mean a Drone for ants?
Quality- 5 Stars- this bag is made to take a beating. It is made up of the highest quality material. I trust this bag to keep my equipment safe and intact, especially with the insert set up and the ability to order more pads or to insert off-brand pads. Drone- 2 STARS- Unless you have a mini-drone or a drone I don't know about your standard high-speed low drag drone will not fit in this pack. I have a 3DR SOLO and even if I remove the blades and the gimble it will not fit safely in the pack. Depending on wear you are going to it might be a viable option to strap the drone to the outside but we are also thinking about packing out the gimble and the remote and other gear you need for a drone shoot. Possibly for a stand alone drone shoot this could work for some who are comfortable with using a MOLLE rig to strap down their drone to the outside, BTBH that sling strap will hang weird off of the torso. I personally would not attach the drone to the outside of this bag and attempt to traverse: -Rocky terrain (where it takes two hands to ascend) -Hiking Trails in heavily wooded areas or areas with a lot of underbrush. -Thickly Populated Urban Areas i.e. in the Subway or on packed streets. Transition- 4 STARS- the transition from front to back to access your camera is actually pretty awesome. It reminds me of transitioning a rifle from front slung to back and vice versa with the MagPul multi mission sling for a rifle. It just feels good and with enough practice you can make it look pretty cool. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I'm giving it an average rating because the bag doesn't blow my mind and I'm not a huge fan of sling packs, and this is the first sling pack I have ever owned. I've spent 21 years in the military picking things up, walking with them for a long time and putting them down. I would hate to have to travel more than 12 clicks with this thing because it constantly shifts. I have a Carbon Fiber Tripod that is very lite. When strapped to the outside of the pack it causes it to shift constantly and with out another strap to balance out the weight of the equipment my shoulder got fatigued as well as muscles in my back from constantly having to compensate for the shifting of the weight. Yes it does have that additional strap to the shoulder but I can't personally get the bag to stop shifting and I have a metric f#ckton of experience packing and walking. Overall 3 STARS- Looks Cool Durable AF Fits DSLR and several lens combos-SAFELY- this pack will protect your gear-you must supply the common sense here. I would recommend for shoots that don't call for an extended time under load depending on your fitness level. If you don't have a solid core and are not used to moving for long periods of times under an uneven load- this is not the bag for you. CONS I'm sorry I'm just not feeling the drone being used in the title of the bag. It is not going to fit or at least name the drones that will be compatible with this piece of kit. Unstable- just couldn't get this to sit right when I had the tripod attached to the outside.
