Q: What is the temperature range of this system?

It does not have a set temperature range, only low, medium, and high settings. The temperature that your get is greatly influenced by the air temperature around the kombucha fermenter. My basement is a chilly 63F degrees in the winter. When this heater is set on high the resulting temperature in the fermenter is 72F.

Q: I have had this running for over 4 hours and it still isnt warm. Am i doing something wrong?

Are both of the lights on the controller lit?

Q: Is this product good for fermenting sourdough starter?

Hi Karen, This works great for sourdough starter as well. When using a small container for starter, we usually just set the container centered on the mat. If that does not provide sufficient heat for the ambient temperature, the container can also be wrapped with this heat mat. Happy fermenting!
