Best of the Series
Older people who pass this book off because of the title of the book and the illustration on the cover are missing out on a great deal of fun and adventure. As a long time fan of the "Flurry the Bear" series, I honestly thought that the author, JS Skye, could not possibly top his last novel, "Flurry the Bear and the Throne of Frost" because the last book was exciting, full of adventurous moments and had a very good plot as well as great characterization. Boy, was I wrong! And how glad I am to be wrong too!"Flurry the Bear and the Book of Snow" is dare-I-say-it? the BEST of the series so far! It exceeded all of my expectations and I really think that it is one of the best stories I've ever read! This time around, we follow Flurry on his adventure with his friend, the bunny rabbit named Honja, to a distant land through the use of a time-travel device. Without revealing too much of the plot, I was impressed to find the origins of Jack Frost as well the red panda warriors (one of which we were introduced to in "The Throne of Frost").As Flurry and Honja were transported to a different time and place, the author did a great job in transferring some of the confusion that Flurry and Honja experienced to us, the readers. It was hard not to relate with how the two young characters were feeling. There wasn't a moment where I wasn't concerned for their safety! There were also plenty of touching and memorable moments in this book. I liked how the author managed to bring so many different layers of intensity to the plot as well as elicit so many different emotions from the readers. I was particularly choked up by one of the scenes at the midpoint of the book that I felt was not only powerful but also important to Flurry's character development. (You'll have to read this book to see what I mean!)The author once again brought new vocabulary for the reader. I wish I had read a book of this nature when I was growing up! I would surely have a better grasp of "difficult" words! I am continually impressed by how the author is able to slip in tougher vocabulary as the story progressed.I particularly liked the introduction of the character, "Tomodachi", as the person who started the lineage of "The Protectors" - of which we found out about in the last book with the character, Chingu. As I was a fan of Chingu, I was excited to read more about his ancestry and heritage. As a person who is also very keen on different languages, I was intrigued to find that the author inserts foreign words into the story. I am also continually impressed by his ability to create rich backstories and a rich culture of each of the different characters. The background information provided is almost Tolkien-like in the depth and complexity of each piece of information. JS Skye has definitely succeeded in creating a vast world full of characters who feel real and who have different cultures, languages and backgrounds! If someone is undecided on whether or not they should try this series, they could start from this book and work their way backwards. This way, they can see what this series has to offer in terms of its complexity, interesting characters and action-packed plot. If you're someone who has read the first three books, "The Book of Snow" is a MUST-read! I can't wait for the next adventure! Judging from the trend so far, it'll probably top the scale of excellence too!

Exciting!
This has got to be my favorite of the books so far. I don't really care about action and adventure very much, but if you like action or adventure then this book is packed full of it. There are sword battles and red panda samurai. Flurry goes back in time with a little rabbit named Honja. Honja is my favorite character, hands down. I relate with Honja so much. I hope the author will feature more of Honja in later books. I also love the baby dragon named Faith. I guess it's not really a dragon. The book calls her a reeyu rather than a dragon. Out of all the novels so far, this books has my most favorite characters. I'm constantly amazed at where the author takes these stories. I'm anxiously waiting for the next book.

... is full of lessons for every age on both good and bad habits and attitudes
Flurry is full of lessons for every age on both good and bad habits and attitudes. There is enough suspense to make you want to keep reading but not so much to have bad dreams. I recommend the Flurry series.

Awesome book!
As a 29 yo adult I will have to admit that after finishing book 4 I spent 30 minutes gushing to my mom about Flurry The Bear, even though it is seemingly a children's book. I told her all about the characters and how cute, detailed, fun and exciting the adventure story is. I talked about how there was foreshadowing that kept me excited for the next part of the story too. The little gems hidden within keep you interested and I just have to know how they'll play out. I have to say that the first three books are good but book 4 by far surpassed my expectations as the writing style became much more vivid and deeper and it drew me into the story and connected me with the characters that much more. This series is not only humorous and light hearted but also deep. It teaches lessons and morals as any good book should do. I just started book five and the expectation level set with book 4 seems to be meeting if not beating, and I'm only through chapter 3.
