I took a chance and bought this wall plate in the hopes I would like how it looked (black wall plate + white switch = nice contrast).Times sure have changed... I'm used to the old-school, "bakelite" (thermoset) plates that crack if you overtighten them. These represent the new breed of "unbreakable" wall plates. It's not a bad product and will do the job; the color is a nice, deep black, and a similarly colored screw was included in the easy tear cellophane packaging. Unfortunately, it's also made from a somewhat floppy and very shiny thermoplastic that'll show every dip and irregularity in its surface once you've tightened it. And it will, because these are not rigid and I've yet to come across an outlet or switch whose face sits perfectly above flush with the wall surface it's mounted on. From an aesthetic standpoint, this drives me nuts. >.< I ended up swapping it out for one of the brittle, thermoset wall plates I've always had a love/hate relationship with. Yeah, it's not as durable or flame retardant, but it looks a helluva lot better than this Rubbermaid thing that it replaced.That being said, if I needed something unbreakable that was more forgiving of being overtightened, I'd get a steel wall plate. They're not much more than these things, and to be honest, I feel like I really overpaid for this plate given the materials used in its construction and the quality of its appearance. But whatever... The days of 99¢ "bakelite" wall plates at the local hardware store are fast becoming a thing of the past. Once a concession is made in the name of "improving" something, there's no going back.Be glad I gave it three stars, Leviton, because I really wanted to give it one.

These wall plates are made from military grade body armor. No one will ever break into your electrical sockets. They also have milk chocolate in them if you get hungry.

They fit out outlets very nicely. The material they are made of is very forgiving, meaning you won’t crack these.

These go great in my kitchen.

Arrived on time, well packaged and as described. Used with white outlets gives a retro look to my red and black dining room. Has plastic lip on on screw hole to help avoid over tightening and warping of plate. (Who ever put in the older outlets and switches in my home wired them slightly inset in the wall so I have to tighten the plates down more than usual.) Wall plate is sturdy.

Very simple. Nothing to brag about here. The item fits perfect and does not look cheap
