Awesome
I really enjoyed this book for me it was exactly what I was hoping for. They set the tone of the book with the opening pages and from there they keep it up this book is a vibe. It reminded me of the early 2000s vampire lore that I loved so much growing up and I really appreciated that. Asher is a millennia old vampire that has been waiting patiently for his fated (in this world vampires have a fated bond mate) and when she is finally born he is on a chase to get to her when he does💥! I loved the way the bond was depicted between them, I loved the steamy ethereal dreamy/phantom sequences, I loved the intensity of Asher. I just really enjoyed this book. There are a few things that maybe could've been done better like the whole mother thing did start to get a bit annoying but I was able to push through it and there were time when it went from Asher's Pov to Chloe's and vice versa where I couldn't tell what point in time we were in, like did we go back to replay an event from the others pov or is this afterwards...I'm excited for another book in this series which I think will be Raphael's but I would actually really like to see a spin off with Issac as well I won't say why because I don't want to spoil anything.

Interesting Read
I really liked this book. I needed a bit more understanding of the lore which resulted in taking longer to get into the story. But that also made it very interesting once I hit about 75% of the way through and was able to look back at the beginning. I’m glad I read through it instead of stopping at chapter 5 like I normally do when it can’t immerse myself. I do recommend.Spoiler from hereReading from Chloe’s pov made it difficult to really understand how unique she really was. Being indoctrinated from birth gives the reader a skewed and very sheltered perspective which inhibits really understanding what the heck is happening in this story. There was no baseline for what a marked woman was and what it meant past the superficial she’s destined for a specific vampire. Chloe’s specialness faded into my understanding of the baseline. Each new thing she could do, every time she defied Asher, the true insidious nature of the order, whatever the heck was going on with Isaac was all the baseline so nothing seemed especially revolutionary. Sure, Asher’s surprise, the nun’s out of character challenge, the creepy vibes Isaac gave Chloe were all good markers to say the reader should be shocked. But I never really was shocked because I had no understanding of what marked women were supposed to be. And the lack of understanding kept me from being able to marvel at or even truly be curious about Raphael’s research. Even having read through the whole book, I don’t know what was so special about Asher’s case that had Raphael digging or what motivated him to continue his research past Asher bonding with soulmarked Chloe healing Asher. Heck, we didn’t find out about soulmarked not presenting until puberty until the end of the book. Its really a good book and I’m excited to read the rest of the series, I just wish I had a better understanding from an earlier point. I wish there was a chapter from Raphael’s pov five years or so after Chloe’s birth, him holed up in his research lab explaining everything about what a soulmarked is supposed to be, what’s concerning about Chloe, what’s happening to Asher the longer he goes without Chloe, the paternal bond with Asher that we don’t get a good look at, and the unheard of’s like Asher dying or a soulmarked presenting at birth not puberty or Asher spacing out that’s not supposed to happen.

Interesting take on vampire mates
A dark, gritty take on vampire and their mates. Many scenes are gruesome, so be aware of your own thresholds. In a post enlightened world, vampires are known, but the majority go about without bringing attention to themselves. In this world, female mates are marked at birth, and there are few of them. The vampire must then wait until their mate comes of age before they're able to find, mate and turn them.Enter a rogue religious order that takes these children at birth and hides them. While some in this order are kind, the majority are depraved and cruel, inflicting mental and physical abuse upon the marked. As I said, a very interesting premise. This story centers on Asher, and his wait and hunt for his soulmarked, Chloe, and her battle to outwit and remain in hiding from her vampire mate. While there are great characters with interesting back stories, this story did drag. Maybe it was setting up the world and establishing the premise, but at times it was slow going. If the authors had stuck with the main characters "talking" with each other while Asher hunted for Chloe, the relationship would have been more interesting. Some missed opportunities that would have aided the plot. The story ends setting up the next book, which will follow another character and his soulmarked. It was a bit of a let down. As with serials, the entire cast of characters will, I'm sure, be involved. There is so much left unfinished and unanswered.A 3.5 read which I'll push to a 4 for the overall potential. Otherwise, well written, with good heat with my stated issues.

Love lust and violence
After reading tons of smutt & erotica, I've never been much of a fan of vampire erotica. (Too much blood play almost s&m knife like play) too much for my taste but this ... this was a work of art kept me engaged, and on edge for more loved the plot and I cannot wait for more

I loved This unique take on a vampires mate. This was truly a great world builder with intriguing characters and witty banter. With some drama, suspense, trauma, abuse, chemistry, passion and desire thrown into the mix. This was definitely a captivating, page turner and can't wait to read more. Amazing start to a series.

ambiguous is the best I can do.
I had really high hopes for this story, but for me, it fell flat and felt rushed when the author should have taken their time and dragged through details that should have been dealt with quickly. I found myself skipping pages and I didn’t miss a darn thing. I felt no connection with the main characters. A shame really. It could have been so much better. I will not be continuing with the series.
