It is very solid and very well made. I have never had a gimbal head before so I spent quite a bit of time researching inexpensive gimbal tripod heads before deciding on this one. I watched you tube videos on how to balance them and found the video in one of the reviews of this product very helpful also. My minor complaints are that the paint scratches easily, and that I need a longer Arca Swiss plate for my 70 to 210 and 70 to 300 zoom lenses. My lenses don't have tripod collars. The plate that comes with this gimbal is 70mm and balances properly with shorter lenses and probably if you have a tripod collar for your long lenses, but it is not long enough to balance my camera and telephoto lenses. I think I will have to buy a 120mm arca swiss plate to balance my setup which will cost me about $10 more, a small price to pay for an excellent gimbal head setup.

I bought this gimbal head to give it a try. I didn't want to spend several hundred dollars and find out I wouldn't use one because I didn't like the way a gimbal head works as all my tripods have ball heads. As it turns out, I really like this gimbal head. I read reviews on this head and many others that are very similar. The complaints about stiffness in movement are not an issue with the one I received. It moves smoothly and the movements are dampened just right for the camera and long lenses I use. Is it fancy? No. Does it do the job well. Yes, it does. I am a long-time photographer and produce a calendar each year with photos of landscapes and birds and large animals. This gimbal head will make it a pleasure to set up and do my outdoor photo shoots.

There are several brands of this that seem identical. This one is as good as others I own and use, and is at a better price point. The grease melted out of the base on mine into the cardboard box, but I had planned to replace thr grease in mine anyway. This is great with my 600mm lens.

I was nervous buying this because it is less expensive by far than other similar products. I was not disappointed. Very sturdy and stable. Extremely smooth movement for panning. Very solid and heavy. Just an all around professional product. You will not be disappointed.
