I live in Los Angeles, but I am a born and raised New Yorker so I grew up with THE best tap water in the country (in my opinion!) - I've lived in SoCal for 8 years and have hated the water this whole time. When I read some of the Q&As on here about Kishu making SoCal tap tolerable, I had to try it. It takes a full 24-36 hours to filter out the nasty tap taste (I am a water snob), but holy schmoley I am in disbelief at how much better this water tastes than my Brita. It's still not as good as say, Crystal Geiser (again, I'm a snob) but it's pretty amazing and I am super impressed! I did a taste test side by side with Brita, Kishu, and CG, and the Brita was undrinkable compared to the last two. Definitely worth the money! I bought a giant 2-gal drink dispenser at TJ Max and just keep a pitcher in the fridge for cold water. If this thing can make SoCal tap drinkable, it can make any water drinkable. I am a happy customer.

I was looking for an alternative to our wasteful Brita filters and this is perfect! we have the big pitcher with the spigot dispenser and this just sits right inside it and makes the water taste great! I just make sure to fill the pitcher up every night so the water will be filtered by the morning and it's great! we're on our second one and about to get our third next month. I love that one filter lasts 4 months and it's so easy to clean every month just by boiling it. I definitely recommend!

Finally! A decent water filter solution. Very effective!! I bought a 5 gallon jug with a wide mouthed spigot (you need to be able to fill it with a hose or ? And be able to get charcoal stick in/out of the opening. I use the xl filter. Every 4-5 months you’ll need a new one. Totally works for excellent tasting water.

We have been ordering Kishu charcoal for our water filtration for the past 5 years and have loved it. Unfortunately, we seem to have gotten a dud with this last order. Normally, we will see tiny bubbles coming from the charcoal within minutes of putting it in our water dispenser. This time, no bubbles and no reduction in chlorine smell or taste, even after 48 hours. Twice over the last several weeks I boiled the charcoal per their directions, but it made no difference. I brought home an unused pitcher-size Kishu filter from my office, added it to the dispenser and it bubbled within a minute. While helpful, it is too small for our 2.5gal home dispenser. We'd love a replacement filter, but there seems to be no way to directly contact the company through Amazon.

I've hated water all my life I guess I have a sensitive palette. I cook a lot and can taste faint seasonings when I'm out so I've always hated water. No matter how much I Am aware of the importance of water,I always quit and drink soda. My kids drink lots of water and they noticed the water dispenser was producing stinky water. I had a sip and it tasted like what wet dog smells like. I inspected my fridge and found mold. I decided then not to rely on 40.00 filter replacements. I wanted something cheap and eco friendly this has been the answer and I'm so glad I took a chance. I haven't tested the water with a water test kit, but when I do I'll update this review. Visually I saw the water bubbling and within hours it tasted good. We make sure to use this filtered water for our ice cubes for the ones that like cold water or fill a min jug for the fridge.
