HYDE TOOLS 45000 Paint Shield, N/A, N/A

This tool is about 10" long and made from flimsy aluminum. I literally could have made a better tool with a disposable pie plate and a pair of tin snips. Since it also arrived pre-bent and dented, I strongly doubt it's going to do what it was supposedly designed for, which was prevent paint leaking under when I'm trying to create a clean line. I'm not only outraged by how bad this tool is, I'm outraged that the merchant dared to charge $5.00 for such a worthless item. I want my money back!

Like I said !!!! Junk , should have been offered for free, and even then I would not take this silly piece of metal! This is a throw away item, I would not consider it a tool, Made of aluminum , if able to use it , it will probably last a few hours of painting!!!!

I have several of these paint shields that I purchased years ago, and couldn't understand why so many people found them inferior, so I purchase one to try out. These new shields are stamped and formed from a single piece of soft aluminum. The older shields I have are two pieces - the handle, made from steel, is riveted to a rolled piece of spring set aluminum. The new shields will bend and crease easily rendering them nearly useless for painting a straight edge where paint doesn't get under the edge. The spring aluminum shields will flex a great deal without creasing, making them more durable, and less prone to paint escaping under. I was still able to use these successfully when painting along moldings, but be aware that if accidently ceased it is not easily straightened, and will probably allow paint to escape through the crease.

Cheap, flimsy, ineffective due to lack of straight edge. The wind could fold this cheap product.

I have no issues with the product itself, as its being quite thin proves to be the only thing that will work in many applications. However, the way it is shipped in a flimsy mailer guarantees that it will be bent in transit. Every bend on this product shortens its life. I was forced to return the two I had bought.

Don’t bother with this. It’s just thin cardboard painted silver. It bent as I was removing it from packaging which made it useless for doing painting edging. Extremely cheap and not worth the money or the headache to return it.
