Great for surfacing
I built a cnc router this spring. Search around you tube to find it. Great bit for surfacing which is apparently super important step!

Great value cutter
Like a lot of the other reviewers, I bought this cutter to use in my flattening jig. This is my first time using this type of set up, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an insert cutter, so this particular model fit the bill as being one of the least expensive carbide tipped 2" cutters I found.Overall, I'm really impressed. There is no noticeable vibration, and the cutter made quick work of flattening the end grain beech cutting board I used as a feasibility test. The depth of cut was around 1/16". The router is a DW625 3HP; power wasn't a problem, and it was surprisingly controllable during the cut (I only cut in one direction each pass - against the rotation of the cutter, but return passes with the cutter weren't squirrely either.) There were a few high spots and it flattened them w/o issues.A couple of points. The close up shots show the first few passes - I was cutting about 3/4 of the bit diameter, and I think that was too much. You can see the tool marks pretty clearly. I don't know if the router cants slightly, or if the trailing edge of the cutter left apprentice marks, but I had much better luck cutting 1/2 the diameter or less, about 1" per pass. The wider view shows subsequent passes. The camera makes it look worse, as those marks were removed with final sanding (120 then 220 grit with a random orbital) as shown in the pic of the finished board.Overall, I'm $45 into plywood for the jig and another $25 in the cutter. Definitely worth the money for a first time flattening set up that I'm sure will get tons of use.
