If you have quit a while ago and need a refresh on why, have just embarked on the sober journey, or only thinking about quitting; this book is for you. Review: Worth A Read - I wish I’d found this sooner in my journey but even at day 352 I found this to be helpful and insightful. I also resonated with a lot of it and was able to connect in that way. My only complaint would be it did at times feel repetitive. But at the same time that was a slight perk as someone with ADD having issues filling absorbing information it’s nice to have things reiterated or reframed sometimes. Overall and insightful, easy read.

I Relate To So Much
I am at a very, very similar crossroad that’s this author apparently was in when they decided to get sober. Sean, thank you so much for being so forward and honest. One thing that I liked about this book and that the author did not tip toe around most of what he felt was true and right. Sometimes we are so afraid of offending, or narrowing our thoughts to others that we don’t say what our true experience was and I have seen this in a lot of quit lit I have been reading lately. For example the author continuously said over and over that sobriety leads to a greater life experience, even though he also admitted to having friends who still drink. That’s is what proved to me that what I read was this authors legitimate no holding back to save your feelings truths, and experiences about his life and his now long term sobriety. I can not say enough good things about this book. I have just now purchased more quit lit (some recommended in the text) because it is truly helping me so much on my sober journey and I promise if your in the same place this book will be no different for you as well. This book gets right to the point with some drunken experience examples but mostly thoughts on how to get there (sober) and stay there and all the positives that come into play when getting sober. This isn’t as much of a long tragic stories + some advice and help it’s more so the other way around. Seeing the grueling data included about all my wasted time that I can never get back and money out the window also gave me a kick in the rear to end the horrible trend and reverse it entirely. Which is all given in details in the book! Happy reading if you choose this one, in my opinion you won’t regret it!

Sean makes living sober a reality
Very helpful to stay sober! THE WEIGHT LOSS!!! As a woman, we care that alcohol makes us heavy and overweight. I shed 53 lbs when I quit 3.5 years ago. It's hard but Sean is right ✅️ it leaves you feeling better, looking better, and confident when you stop drinking. I got the book because I was curious about his life without booze and what he had to say about sober sex. Sex is very difficult for me without alcohol and I'm glad Sean explained things to unblock my fears. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling to be sober and how all your fears are shared thoughts. There is life after alcohol!!! X does a Sunday Sober Social and X recovery. Sunday at 7pmET and Wednesday 6:30pm ET. We don't record these meetings but it's excellent for staying sober and receiving support! Love, Jen

Good book
Helpful dealing with alcohol addiction. This and lies we tell our self’s are both great books to better understand the lies we are told and lies we tell ourselves about the destructive poison we put in our bodies in the name of fun. This all in the name of profit for a billion dollar industry. It’s legal it’s socially accepted, broadly accepted it destroys our motivation, destroys our bodies, destroys our relationships. Read these books. Tks

Easy to read and to the point
I embraced sobriety two years ago and it has been a wonderful change. Every aspect of my life is better. I picked up the book for validation, to see if other people are having the same experiences. What Sean describes exactly matches my experience of life after snapping out of the insanity that is drinking. What really caught my eye were the words ‘unexpected shortcut.’ We really don’t realize how much harder we make living by drinking. It’s like trying to run a race with a ball and chain on your leg, and we do it all to ourselves. If you’re struggling at all in life, getting sober is the first and most important thing to do to turn your life around.

Honest and eye opening
I checked this out while thinking more seriously about my habits, and it gave me a fresh perspective. I liked how it talked openly about the challenges without making things feel heavy or judgmental. Some parts made me reflect on how small changes can have a bigger impact over time. The tone felt real and easy to connect with, which kept me engaged. I found it helpful to go through it at my own pace and think about what applies to me. Overall, it felt encouraging and gave me a lot to consider moving forward.

The last book I read before I quit drinking
Firstly, this book has one of the best book titles I have ever come across. You don't realise how drunk the planet is until you walk past the pubs as a nondrinker, or notice how many movie plots use alcohol as a device for the most insane things to happen. Secondly, this book gave me the push I needed to quit drinking on 31 December 2023. It has been almost a year and true to Sean's words, the happiness that has sprung from this decision has been a revelation. Quitting alcohol has been the single best decision I have made for my health. I appreciated Sean being so open about what his life looked like when he was taking a lot of drugs and drinking. The man is very wise! I love the upbeat, no-nonsense tone.

Amazing!
I read quitlit a lot, and I loved that this book don’t get deeper about alcohol science, but focus on living in a drunk society and to see alcohol for what it really is

A must-read for anyone at any age alive on this drunk planet!
The content of this book may well have been written for me and all the friends I’ve had over the years, all the places I’ve worked, in finance and F&B…as someone who recently lost her older sister to the dark side of alcohol, and who also has struggled years with alcohol misuse, I’m so glad to have found a book that genuinely speaks to me. Found this book well written, easy to read and with no wasted meandering. This book spells out the world we live in, the drinking culture, the normalizing of something so abnormal…read it and sober up with pride.
