Great for cutting pick and pluck foam
We have lots of pick and pluck foam cases that need to be cut in a repeatable way. We tried everything, and this is a great solution. It heats quickly, cuts cleanly, and has been a lifesaver for us. Caution, the fumes it produces when cutting foam are very noxious. Make sure you do it outside or in a ventilated area and wear a mask.

Saved me
Insulated a whole pole barn with styro board insulation. Easy to use and worked great although blades are thin and bend over time. Smooth edge and can ‘sculpt’ when needed. Heats and cuts fast, saved me alot of time and mess.

I have been saving packaging styrofoam pieces for a long time
This cutter allowed me to create some faux rocks (with flat backs) that I roughed up and then "painted" with a stucco slurry. I then attached the foam faux rocks to the wall around my electric fireplace to create a rustic look in contrast to the modern electric fireplace mounted to the wall. I then painted the rocks to look more realistic in browns, sienna and gray with just a touch of shiny mica powder and then piped in "mortar" to make it look like the real thing. Without this electric knife it would have been way more difficult to create the faux rocks. It was a definite DIY project that looks pretty good if I do say so myself. I love that this comes in an actual case so that all the parts stay together and the knife itself cuts through styrofoam so much better and easier than using a regular knife. If you are into crafts, this would be a great addition to your stash!

There is a learning curve
There is a learning curve to using this item. You will have to determine the proper temperature to use to cut whatever foam material you are using. I was dealing with a medium density, open cell, upholstery foam. I used some scrap material to figure out how to use this thing on that particular foam. Once I did that, I osed a long steel straight edge as a cutting guide. I used a large diameter metal can as a radius guide for cutting the corners. The cuts actually came out very good. Then I used some 3M spray adhesive to adhere the foam to the plywood base. Then I install the PU upholstery using a staple gun. The project was replacing the back seat of a golf cart. It came out great.

Great value for speciality tool
this is a speciality tool that I normally wouldn't buy if not for the affordable. I have only done a few tests as I mainly got this for a "when you need it, you need it" moment, but seems to work great!

Great Foam Cutter
I've already started on my Halloween decorations for the year, and a major part of that is cutting foam. I usually use a saw. I've never considered getting a heat foam cutter, but this cuts through the foam like butter and makes the cuts a lot smoother so there's less finishing work. It's easy to clean up and comes in a nice storage case. It will save me a lot of time. I can't believe I waited so long to get one.
