Also does it give readings on how much voltage is being used up by aux lights?** A: I left it plugged in when I went on vacation for 8 days. Came back battery was nearly drained. So I wouldn't leave it plugged in for a week or more. Trickle charger after 1 hour had my volts back up to 11.2v. This is on a new ninja 400 stock battery. **Q: can it maintain a garmine 1490 and apple phone?** A: I believe it would. I mounted this on my motorcycle. I run a Garmin Nuvi and charge my iphone with no issues. **Q: Does this have a hard switch to prevent excess battery drain?** A: That is a good point you bring up about the switch. I don't see a switch on this one. I'm assuming this will have to be unplugged overnight unless your SAE feed is switched on and off by the key. One of the other adaptors I bought does a have a switch. I bought a few USB adaptors this summer and I have not used any of them yet. Up until now I've been using a SAE to cigarette lighter adaptor which also does the job. I bought these just to save space on my next big trip. **Q: is the cord and adapter plug all one unit?** A: No, the cord will unplug from the unit. The two prong plastic seal plug is attached and plugs in to the unit to keep out dust and water. that's the part you see at the very front in the larger picture.
