Durable, Spacious, a Pleasure to Use!
I bought this suitcase for a seven-week, multi-country trip to Europe. It was my only suitcase and it held up beautifully! The front opening design is SO much more functional in small European hotel rooms that usually only provide a place for one piece of luggage. I could put this suitcase in a number of places where my husband’s clamshell suitcase wouldn’t fit. We have been home only three days and he has already ordered this suitcase for himself for our next trip. The storage capacity was unexpectedly good! Our trip included a 13-day bicycling trip in Austria, so I not only needed regular clothing but also cycling gear for whatever weather we might encounter in May. I took cycling tights, warm shirts, cool shirts, a rain jacket, a windbreaker, gloves, shoes, small first aid kit, neck gaiter, and my own helmet. Everything but the helmet fit into one large packing cube, and the helmet fit into a corner of the suitcase. (The tour company transported our luggage each day.) I packed plenty of clothing for the remaining 35 days of many kinds of activitie. It fit into two smaller packing cubes. Into the corners and empty spaces of the suitcase I packed two small toiletry kits, another pair of shoes, my own coffee mug, a ball of yarn, knitting needles, a lightweight puffer jacket, and other miscellaneous stuff. This is a lot of detail, but I hope it gives you an idea of the good capacity of this 24” suitcase. The packing cubes definitely helped with organization! I appreciate the apparent durability of this suitcase. We really put it through a lot, including travel on multiple airlines, trains, metros, and buses. When I first got it I was worried that the wheels seemed unprotected and might come off, but there was no such problem. The wheels roll SO smoothly and easily, even on the many uneven surfaces in European cities. Sometimes I would roll it using all four wheels, sometimes it worked better rolling on only two. The telescoping handle feels sturdy and is comfortable to hold. The 24” size made it easier, and lighter, than a larger suitcase to pull onto public transportation. The material of the suitcase and the zipper feels sturdy. By the end of the trip, after a few small souvenir purchases, it was almost over-full, but the zipper still zipped smoothly and held secure. The zipper pull locking mechanism worked well and was easy to use. I couldn’t be more pleased with this suitcase, and my husband is excited to get his own! Highly recommended.

LOVE THIS BAG!
Love, love, love this luggage! I looked at a TON of bags before my recent trip to Rome because I wanted something stylish that also wouldn’t take up too much space. European hotel rooms are usually a bit smaller, and the one we stayed in only had a tiny corner closet—no dressers at all. Having a top-opening suitcase made such a huge difference. I could keep it on the luggage stand, open it from the top, and easily access all my things without the suitcase taking over the entire room. My husband brought a typical clamshell suitcase, and his took up so much room. It was constantly in the way, which made me even more grateful that I chose this top-opening style. The wheels roll smoothly and softly, the color is beautiful, and the overall design is just perfect for travel. It handled the trip to Italy really well with only minor scuffing. On the way back it picked up a few more marks, but that’s totally normal for any luggage, and if you want to keep it pristine, you can always buy a luggage wrap. This bag was exactly what I needed, and I truly love it. I’m already excited to take it back to Italy next year!

Beautiful green suitcase and great quality.
I am obsessed with these suitcase and the 16” was the last piece I needed for my set. I have the 3 larger sizes. My go to luggage due to the top opening and not clamshell style. It holds more than you expect and the wheels glide like butter. The green color is beautiful and the material is very durable and doesn’t scratch easily.

Great carry on!
I spent a rather unhealthy amount of time searching for a new carry on that would fit my needs for both air and car travel. I needed something that was roomy but still carry-on approved, and of course, sturdy enough to handle TSA and uneven terrain. Tried it out on my most recent flight to NYC and it worked really well! DESIGN: I love the color and classy appearance. The grey-blue is bright enough to stand out but nothing too bright/neon. I wanted something that would not scuff easily and the textured design really helps hide any scratches it may ever accumulate. I had to gate-check it twice due to available space on the plane and it arrived to both destinations without any damage. There were a few black scuff marks but I was able to wipe those away with my thumb. There isn’t any reinforcement on the corners. Wheel side should hold up fine, but particularly the bottom corners could potentially be problematic if not packed right. I may reinforce them myself at some point, but they’ve held up so far. The metal reinforcement around the main body of the suitcase is a nice touch for durability and the material is strong enough on the sides where there’s not a lot of give but enough to where it’s not too rigid. The telescope handle does not take up much space on the inside, about an inch, and the lining is loose enough so I could pack smaller clothes between the bars without issue. The interior pockets on the top panel do not take up space in the main packing area based on zipper design. I love the waterproof pocket as well. They’re not particularly big, but smaller items or a swimsuit can still fit nicely. Since the top panel does not take up space in the main compartment (something that laptop compartments often do) I was able to utilize that space to toss my jacket or raincoat on top and still zip it up easily (without sitting on it!) SPACE: The major selling point was of course the top-open design. I don’t think I could ever go back to a clam-shell hard case again. It worked great in the small hotel room, fit beautifully on the luggage wrack, and was a game-changer when I needed to open it up in the airport to toss my jacket inside. My toiletry bag is on the bigger side and fit great with plenty of room to stack clothes and other things. I’m an over-packer and had plenty of room for a 3-day trip. I was able to fit my toiletry bag, first-aid bag, small purse, 4+ days of clothes, 2 pairs of shoes (heels and boots!), curling iron, and raincoat with some room to spare. I used a small vacuum-seal bag for pants, a dress, and a sweater and folded up, it fit well inside. WHEELS/MANEUVERABILITY: This thing glides so smoothly on flat surfaces. Thicker carpet is manageable even with a backpack on top, and without the backpack it rolls great. It held up well on escalators/flat escalators with no issues getting on or off with my backpack on it. Rough terrain like cobblestone would probably require it to be pulled behind you, but I’m not concerned about the wheels holding up on such surfaces. MISC: YKK zippers on the outside held up nicely. The TSA lock was easy to change and worked well. I like how it’s located on the top as I feel like that’s less likely to get damaged. Of course, if someone really wanted to get into your bag they could, but it’s a nice touch. Weight is pretty standard for a carry on. I was able to lift it into the TSA bins easily. CONS: While there are not any major issues with this suitcase, I gave it 4 stars mainly for the handle design and lack of bottom handle by the wheels. The handlebar is not seamless with the telescope rods which could potentially be problematic when taking off any bag with a built-in luggage strap. It has quite an edge to it that is manageable but not when needing to remove a bag quickly. My backpack has a detachable strap I use to wrap around the handle, but for someone with a strap flush to their bag it could be a deal-breaker. There isn’t an additional grab handle on the bottom by the wheels, so moving it into the overhead bins, TSA bins, car, etc. is a little awkward and you kinda have to hold onto the wheels which isn’t the most user-friendly. If there was one thing that I would absolutely change about this suitcase, it would be to add an additional handle on the bottom. The compression straps on the inside of the bag could be a little longer, and they’re also attached unevenly which has its pros and cons. For one, the attachments utilize areas already inside of the suitcase so there’s no additional hardware taking up space, and it may help a little bit more compression-wise, but at the same time the one side is really easy to lose if you’re not careful when packing. I had to unpack once to retrieve the strap. The straps that prop the top panel up are also quite long, which is nice if you want to lay the panel flat, but since there are clips to detach it, the length is a bit overkill and just got in the way when zipping it up. I may just cut them shorter at some point. Overall, I’m really happy with this suitcase and am excited to use it on future trips!

Best carryon bag!
This is such a great piece of luggage! It’s very sturdy, the zipper is nice and smooth. I love the way it opens, you have so much more room to pack things and it fits more than a typical carry on. It’s very lightweight and easy to move, the wheels are nice and smooth and then all the way around so you can move it any which way. It’s great! Would buy more!

Poorly Quality & Even Poorer Customer Service
If you were attracted to this suitcase because of its chic look and claims of durability, I urge you to save your money and look elsewhere. I unfortunately took the chance and spent good money on this bag only to have it look like someone used it to skateboard down the street after just one flight (didn’t even make it through an entire trip). The “scratch-resistant” claims, are completely false. Upon retrieving my bag after the flight, one of my zippers was completely gone (both pieces of the zipper, like it was never even there), the edges were frayed, and it was all scratched and banged up, where in many areas, the silver base material was showing through. Again, this was after ONE flight. But I think the most disappointing part about my experience was that when I reached out to the seller about my issues and request a replacement, he told me to try wiping the luggage with a cloth (as if I hadn’t tried that already) and the scratches would go away. Clearly, that didn’t work. Then the most he offered me was a discount on another purchase or to send me a replacement zipper. A ZIPPER?!? Oh, and I would have to be responsible for finding (and paying) the repair shop to put the zipper back on the bag. Wow. Who wants a replacement zipper anyway, if the rest of my brand new suitcase still looks like trash? After much time spent going back and forth, the seller refused to send me a replacement bag and literally just stopped replying to my messages. How’s that for customer service? Needless to say, I will NEVER waste my money on these company’s faulty products again and unless you’re looking for a one-time use only suitcase, I encourage you to do the same and avoid the headache.

Best hard sided carry on luggage
My favorite luggage. Most international airlines accept it for carryon. It opens like a traditional suitcase which is a requirement for me. The clam shell opening that most hard sided luggage have take up way too much space and are not easy to open/close. The Hanke is great. Bought one for my niece and a friend got one and loves it.

Sleek, lightweight and functional
I really love this elegant carry on. It's a good size and is light weight, but sturdy. The color is a nice creamy beige which will stand out from all the dark suitcases in a classy way. I love the look of a cream colored suitcase but was hesitant because everyone knows a light color would show scuffs. But... the texture will help hide minor scuffs that may happen over time and if it does get permanent marks, I can replace it without feeling too guilty considering the reasonable price. The handle extends easily and the wheels turn smoothly. I love that it is NOT the "clam shell" design that takes up so much room when you open it. If you use a couple of packing cubes, I bet you could easily fit a week's worth of smartly chosen outfits. I thought it had a "wet pocket" inside, but it doesn't. Just two mesh pockets. This isn't a big deal to me considering TSA limits wet items you can bring anyway and I will pack those in a separate bag. It has little feet on one long side so it doesn't have to rest on the wheels if you need it to orient another way. Overall, I am very pleased and can't wait to go on my next trip!

Remarkable suitcase
I purchased this suitcase in 2024. I love it. It’s been across the pond a few times. I’ve traveled by plane, train and automobile. It’s lightweight and sturdy. I’ve carried it on and checked it. It still looks great and the airlines hasn’t been able to destroy it. :) Purchase the suction bags and you can carry enough clothes air a few weeks travel. I received nothing for this review.

Lives up to the hype
Sturdy and has good wheels. Love the trunk style because you can pack so much more. Easy to clean too.

16 inch Hanke top opening luggage - Ivory White color
Bought the 16 inch Hanke top opening luggage in Ivory White color (suitcase is more like a beige color). Definitely NOT a cheap little suitcase! Hope it will last! Only gave it 4 stars so far, as I am yet to make use of it Hope it’ll last a good few years. Will update if needed.
