Used to control deck lighting - work well from inside the house
These are similar to other dawn to dusk or specified duration timers but have the added benefit of being able to remotely control. I have one of them hanging below my deck rail and it controls both a strip light and two separate long strings of LED Christmas lights.The deck does not face another house, so we do not need to light it except if we are in a room that views the deck or on the deck itself. The remote is very simple with just on and off but that is all we need. I have the timer set to light the deck at dusk and leave it on for six hours but if we are not going to be seeing it, I can press a button and turn it off.I have not evaluated how great a distance this will work for but am currently controlling it through a window from about 30 feet away with zero issues.

Great for Christmas and Halloween decor
Love these timers. They seem to work season after season.

Not the greatest, lights stay on if you use remote even if on dusk-dawn
A couple of weird things with these outlets and remotes:- you have to pair the remote with the outlet within a few seconds of plugging in. If you forget, you need to unplug and plug in again and pair- no batteries in the remotes, so before you plug anything in make sure you put in the special batteries- if you use the remote to turn the outlet on while it is in dusk-to-dawn mode, it will not revert to dusk-to-dawn, it stays on. You will have to turn the outlet off then set back to dusk-to-dawn to get it to workI have had other outlets with remotes that did not have these issues. Oh well.

Ideal for Christmas Lights
These made our holiday lights so easy. No going outside to turn them on/off. It was lovely. I never used the remotes so I can't speak as to their ease of use, but the set up otherwise was simple.

Remote takes odd sized 12v battery. Simple round 32 or AAA would have safised.
