Why does it take so long to ship?

Got mine in 10 days, wasn't in a hurry when I ordered.

Does this need a mattress? Or sheets?

Yes. Def needs a mattress. They are some nice ones that fold up. And yes a sheet too. Make sure you order the right sizes of both. Different from crib mattresses and crib sheets
