Long Live Minidisc!
I have my home sound system set up as a "Museum of Forgotten Formats." Cassette , 8-track, reel-to-reel, vinyl (not so forgotten anymore), and minidisc. I used minidisc back in the day, and still have a library of discs. It has always been an amazing format. Add and delete tracks at will. I have the Onkyo FR-X9A, which is a small form receiver/amplifier/CD/MD. It dubs a CD to MD at double speed. I can create a "best of" MD by dubbing over an entire CD, deleting songs that don't qualify as "best of," and then doing the same with the next CD.Which leads us to the product at hand. I've been using Sony minidiscs for decades, and I think I've only had one disc failure in all that time. Each disc comes with multiple labels for the case and disc. That's in addition to the label already inside the case. By the way, it took me a few seconds to figure out how to get to that label. The case is not a traditional case (see below), and does not look like it opens. But just grab the two sides and pull and it snaps apart to get to the label. These are 80-minute minidiscs. The standard was 74 minutes, but I don't think there are any compatibility issues. These work fine in the Onkyo as well as my Sony portable player. If you are OCD and want your MDs to come in the same jewel cases that the bygone MDs used, then this might disappoint. They are in hard plastic sleeves. The MD slips into the case and clicks into place, as opposed to opening a jewel case. I actually prefer these, but I thought you should be aware.

is a fantastic entry-level unit
Being a niche recording format that is now considered obsolete, it is hard finding new blank Minidiscs; often the price is astronomical because they are so rare. Heck, the only reason why I have a home stereo MD recorder is because I found a clean Sony MDS-JE330 deck at Goodwill a few years back for $12.99. (Which, as a sidenote, is a fantastic entry-level unit!)Up until now, I had only used Sony 74-Minute Color Collection MDW-74 discs and a few TDK discs I received in a bulk eBay purchase some time ago. I never had a problem with them, and the audio reproduction from burned discs thru OpenMD on my MZ-N505 Minidisc Walkman was very good. I was very excited to try out the Neige line for such a great price!Let me tell you, as an amateur audiophile, the Neige line's audio reproduction is a night-and-day difference! The bass is tighter, the treble is crisper, and I tried a new MDW-74 and a new Neige 80 disc with the same songs under the exact same settings. For the comparison, I used my J330 connected to my PC with analog (RCA) input.I am extremely pleased with the performance of the Neige discs, and will most likely purchase more in the near future. The older MDW-74s are great, but if you have sensitive ears and are looking for the extra clarity, then the Neige is for you!

Great value/great quality
As blank Minidiscs get harder and harder to find, I'm glad that I was able to find them on Amazon at an affordable price. In addition, they are of really good quality.

Sony MDs
Fastest way to get recording jobs done, MiniDisc Recorders have many features. I can track mark where one Song or Topic ends and another begins; I can do this faster than using a computer, and if I don't like where I put the track mark I can move it to where I want it. I can also move any song or topic from one location to another in seconds. If I have something I don't want I can just delete it. I can can display text like for album and also for songs or topics. I can get remove noise between songs by tack marking at the end of one song and the beginning of the next and deleting it. Now if I want dead silent space between songs I can use my Sony stereo MD Recorder to pause 3 seconds between songs while I record back on another MiniDisc with my walkman MD Recorder. I can be doing other things, no baby sitting necessary. I can record a Medley of Songs from a Record with no bands and make a MD that will start when I Music Seach exactly where that song begins. You need to get that track mark right first as the Song Titles tie to the track mark, change the track and the Song Title is gone has to be done again. Cassette Records take two records to most things and a lot more time getting things correct: almost impossible. Same for CD recorder, I can't move the track marks on CD-Rs, have to throw disc away and try again. CD-RW I was told that you have to remove everything after what needs corrected and start over from there. Sony made a few mistakes, I have computer with a MiniDisc Drive, but if you put music on the computer to write title with a keyboard it see it was digital and it won't let you make an MD completed copy; however, you can make CD's. To use the Computer for MiniDics, you have to record into the computer in slow real time with the analog jacks, and everything takes longer to do on the computer except for typing text. Using CDs, I never could make a Medley of continues Songs with track marks in the right place and no sound drop out; I could with the MiniDisc. I was told that CD-Rs have certaing spots for track marks, which is not exactly between songs; otherwise, can have some sound drop. I got this information from Cool Edit, now Audition from Adobe. I use the this software to remove noise, and i could change the tempo without changing the pitch etc.Sony made a big mistake with the MiniDisc in the US, and I heard sale were not good enough. I also notice that MiniDisc recorders were not well advertised. People won't buy, if they don't know they exist. This hurts me as I will need new recorders someday. I also heard they went over big in Japan; you could even put you MiniDisc into a JukeBox and download songs. They need to come back advertised and allow us to use the faster digital features with out copy protect blocking. Minidisc recorders also have optical inputs and outputs. I don't know anything else to use with these features.

MINI Disc Lives!
Was glad to have found these on the interwebs and stocked up accordingly, one of my favorite formats is just about dead, and would be without blank media. Now would have preferred these to have been cheaper but oh well. This format although no longer supported by Sony is fun, you can find home players in good shape and fairly cheap. The portable recorder models are a little more scarce especially the more expensive models, cd quality or better sound and recordable. What's not to like?
