10 Pound Titanium Gray DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand with Revolutionary Ceramic Flex Technology for Stabilizing Paver Joints/Gaps, 1/8” up to 4”, Professional Grade Results

I used this for a 240 square foot patio made of 1 foot pavers. Put down 3 - 4 inches of decomposed granite and used a plate compactor (rented from HD) to make sure it was solid. Then a 1 inch layer of sand to set the pavers. Set them in and lightly tamped them in. Just left a 1/8 inch gap between the pavers. They felt "loose" when walking on them, even though the base was very firm, they'd move slightly when walking. I had planned on using another brand of poly sand, but when I looked at the instructions, the stuff available locally said it was for 1/4 inch or larger gaps. I found this Dominator Polymeric sand at Amazon, it had good reviews, and said it could be used for 1/8 gaps. So I bought the 45 lb bucket. Installation was pretty simple: Spread the sand over the pavers, then sweep it into the gaps. I used a 24" push broom with fairly still bristles. Keep spreading sand and sweeping until the gaps are full. I found that going across the gaps at an angle worked best. When the gaps are full, sweep the excess off. Then use a leaf blower to get the remaining dust. Use the leaf blower LIGHTLY so you don't blow the sand out of the gaps! Following the instructions, I used a hose set on shower to spray small sections (about 8x10) at a time. Spray for 15 - 20 seconds until water just starts to pool on the sand, then stop and wait about 30 seconds. Then spray it a second time. It only took about 5 minutes to do my 240 square feet. I again used a leaf blower to blow any sand residue off the top of the pavers. To be honest, I don't think that made a difference on my concrete pavers, as I used the Titanium color, which perfectly matched the pavers. I don't think I did a good job with the second round of blowing, but there are no stains anywhere. That's it. Done. And when walking on the pavers immediately afterwards, they were SOLID! The sand was still wet, but this stuff really locked the pavers into place! And the next day, after the sand had cured more, it was even more solid. The stuff sets up almost like a good silicone sealant; it's flexible, but it's kinda glues the pavers together. I had about a 1/4 inch gap around the perimeter of the pavers, between the pavers and the aluminum edging I used, and (about 2 weeks later) you can press your finger into those spots and it's still kind of flexible. Solid, but flexible. It feels like it'll stay that way for years. And the pavers don't move around - at all! We moved our patio furniture onto it, and use it daily. The 45 lb bucket was just enough to do our 240 square foot patio with 12 inch paver with 1/8 inch gaps. And I mean just barely. If you have bigger gaps or smaller pavers, you'd need more. Yes, it's fairly expensive compared to the kind at the big box stores, but it's worth every penny. If you're doing pavers, don't even think about getting something else - this stuff is awesome!

I used this DOMINATOR polymeric sand to complete the steps on my back patio, and it worked well. The camel brown color looks nice, and it hardened up nicely after installation. It helped fill the joints and gave the patio steps a cleaner, more finished look. Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out.

The product was easy to work with and filled our concrete joints just as expected. However, the titanium gray color is almost white with very little gray color. I wish I'd purchased charcoal gray.

I ordered their 40 lb bag twice. First time it was lost in transit. Never had that happened to my other Amazon orders before. Second time I waited for 2 weeks and they still had not shipped it. I doubt they actually had it on hand. I cancelled it and order 4 bags of 10 lb instead. 10 lb bags were more expensive but I got them in 1 week. I used the polymeric sand to fill the gaps in my driveway and it worked as expected. Tip: scoop up the sand in a small cup and gently shake it into where you want it to minimize spillage. Then activate with water mist. No compaction needed.

Total garbage- I’m a professional installer and have used Techniseal and Gator with great success. I thought I’d try this brand because the “Titanium Grey” suited my client’s color preference and it had good reviews on Amazon. Ha! It was this fine powder that reeks of formaldehyde or some chemical and the color was stark Titanium White, not a hint of grey. Thankfully I did a test area and let it sit for 48 hours before proceeding. My client texted me saying the color was way too white and she didn’t like it. I went back after 48 hours expecting it to have set by then, but my finger poked right into the joint and it washed right out with a pressure washer. What an absolute waste of time, thankfully I’m able to return for a full refund but I’ll never get my time back. Get Gator G2, best polymeric sand I’ve used. See pic for the color they say is “Grey”.

Color is great and the sand was easy to mix and apply between pavers. Looks super.

Works well is a bit expensive.

Works as expected as a paver lock sand, but the very fine grain requires much more work. The fine grain will imbed in any surface texture of the pavers and is hard to brush out. This residual sand becomes imbedded in the paver surface when wet and creates a hazy, sandy finish. Thus it is much harder to clean before activating with water. Other polymer paver sand brands are 1/3 less expensive than Dominator and easier to apply. I cannot justify the higher cost for more effort and the same result.

This is the same stuff that was used on my walkway installation. It works great. Just as stated. My problem was that I bought the wrong color. It firms up nice though and will keep weeds and ants out.
