Very useful, especially the humidity measurements and the history recording.
Best feature: no real problems, yet (ever the pessimist)Battery life: Mounted it outside in April (4 months ago). Battery was at 30%. Originally, on hot days it went up to 40% and on cold days it went down to 25%. After four months, and temperatures in the 70º-90º range, the battery is at 25%. Probably time to change it. A wee bit annoying, as it requires getting out a ladder.Accuracy: It is mounted in an enclosure with a La Crosse Technology wireless thermometer. At higher temperatures (e.g., 80ºF and above), they agree out to one decimal point. On colder days (e.g., 40ºF and below), they diverge by 5ºF (don't remember which is higher).Value: Very pricey! I would be interested in a few more for indoors and out at half the price.Connectivity: Never had any problems, BUT the iPad that it connects to is less than 10' away (through a brick wall). If you have old mobile devices that it can connect to scattered around your house, connectivity should not be an issue. Otherwise: see other reviews.Functional temperature range: Don't know. By the time I mounted it outside the overnight temps were consistently above freezing. I know from several years of experience that the La Crosse will operate at temps as low as -8ºF. But the Eve? I have not had it long enough to experience temps very much below the freezing point (of fresh water). See other reviews.HomeKit integration: Works okay to trigger de-icer outdoor mats, on and off. For most functions, such as the history plots, it is necessary to use the Eve app (rather than Apple's HomeKit). This may be a limitation of HomeKit as much as the Eve.

Originally I thought is was useless for homekit automation but read my updated review
Ok, I felt to be fair that I had to come back and update my previous review. I have left the original below and will explain here my changes. After discussions with the excellent folks on the Homekit subreddit, I finally have this thing working. Yes, you still only can work with temp and humidity. You get air pressure too but it is not easily accessed. To get my scenes to work with this, I had to start over by removing it from my Home and setting it up again. And this time, I made automations for it inside the Eve app ONLY. Also, I had to be patient. I set a temperature trigger for >= 72F. It will trigger once the temperature of the device has dropped below this trigger and creeped back up to it. So, now it seems to be working well. Well enough that I bought a second one to use in a different room.Original 1 star review - If all you really want is to know the temperature and humidity then this is for you. But if you want to act upon those results, fugetaboutit. Neither the Eve app nor Homekit will let you create a scene/trigger/action/rule to perform any action based on the results. The only way to do anything with the data is to create a shortcut. But that requires to you manually execute it...useless. Sending it back. This is the first Eve device I find of no value for my home automation. It is a sensor that cannot be used as one.

Good device but expensive compared to it's competitors
This is good product, but's not worth the current $70 price tag that it commands. First, I would say that the product looks great from an industrial design stand point. Also, it works as advertise and have not experienced any issues with it. With that said, for $70 you get a homekit device that has a temperature, humidity, and air pressure sensors that works outside and is splash resistant. It's not fully water resistant. For less than half the price (about $30), the iHome SmartMonitor can be bought: iHome iSS50 5-in-1 Smartmonitor, 24/7 Home monitoring from anywhere . This device has 5 sensors in it: a temperature, humidity, light, motion, and sound sensors built in. All the sensors, except the sound sensor, can be used in Homekit rules engine as triggers and conditions. Also, the temperature sensor in the iHome device is just as good as the Elgato Eve device. While the Elgato device will show a temperature of 72.5 degrees, the iHome will only show 72 degrees on it's display. But the iHome app will show 72.5 degrees. So, the increased accuracy is shown in app and not on the display. The display for the Elgato device is not backlit, whereas the display for the iHome device is backlit, so it's easier to see in the dark. Also, you can see both the temperature and humidity, at the same time, on the screen for the iHome product. Lastly, the iHome product Wi-Fi base, so there is no issue seeing it from any other Homekit app anywhere in your home, as long as the Wi-Fi coverage is strong enough. So, while the Elgato Eve Degree works, and the industrial design is solid, the iHome Smartmonitor gives more functionality at a fraction of the cost, but without the great industrial design. Unless you really need the air pressure sensor, and need to use it outside, the iHome Smartmonitor is the better choice for devices in this category.

Nice local weather station, limited range
I bought this to provide a temperature sensor to control heaters and watering for my outdoor plants. It's got a nice interface, and I like having a truly local measurement of temperature, humidity, and air pressure. The drawback to the unit is its use of Bluetooth for communication. Effective range is maybe 20 ft in my house. That's sufficient when connected to an Apple TV for use with HomeKit, but otherwise you'd need to be fairly close to the sensor to get a temperature reading.

The device is easy to install but....
The device is easy to install however the unit can’t be very far from your home wifi or it doesn’t transmit temp or humidity.. The real disappointment is the Eve App and Apple My Home function. The information is buried in the apps and not easy to check. There should be an app or widget that gives you the temp and humidity with a single button. Netamo has a much better app, but that required and indoor and out unit and way more expensive.

Shows it all!
I got this to add to my HomeKit ecosystem. I placed this in a shaded area of my patio so I can see what the temperature and humidity is outside. Very accurate and helpful since all I have to do is open either the eve app or HomeKit to check the temperature outside. One of the main selling points for me was the build construction as well as the display on the front! It feels very solid in the hands and the display is clear to see on a night day. I will definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to add this to there home setup!

Lots of potential but…
Nice clean simple design. Simple interface easy to use. Uses Bluetooth LE (low energy) which limits its range to about 30 feet from an Apple TV, Apple iPhone or Apple iPod. There is a serious communication issue (bug) in iOS 12 which has not been worked out yet. This bug causes the Eve Degree to disappear and become unreachable after a short time even if it’s very close by. Until this is fixed I will not buy anymore. Their email support people have been very helpful but as of now there is no solution or work-around. If/when it’s fixed I’ll probably buy a couple more.
