I have a 22-year old macaw who is about to go to nest and as such, she shreds newspaper, cardboard, phone books, and whatever I can give her. She had ignored this toy for a few days, but last night decided she was going to make soft cotton fuzz out of it -- there was this huge pile in the bottom of her cage and the toy was less than half its size. I have made toys out of knotted cotton rope before, but she much prefers this one -- possibly because the rope is brightly colored and keeps her attention. While she obviously enjoyed pulling it apart, it's now about 3/4 demolished. What about making one of these in a macaw size -- same design, but about twice as big? In the meantime, I ordered two more for when she finishes off this one. Highly recommended for birds who love to chew and shred, to keep them occupied.

We have a Macaw. He likes to preen and play. This toy lasted three days. But, I have bought and paid for elaborate colored wood and leather toys that met their end in less than two days. He is a buzzsaw. I currently purchase commercial string mops for him to preen. They serve that need and he has found that he can hide inside of them, which he really enjoys!

My parrot that shreds her feathers loves this texture helps to keep her beaks off her feathers.

It's a beautiful toy for preening fun.As for sturdiness and durability, depends on your bird. I have a Scarlet Macaw who keeps his toys for a long time, and a Yellow Naped Amazon who is Perri theGreat Destroyer.

My Indian Ringneck enjoys plucking and pulling at this toy. It has proven to be quite durable despite being a current favorite toy.
