now I can give hard data, not just seat-of-the-pants noise talk
Nice little dB meter for the money. I purchased this Tadeto digital sound level meter for two reasons: one for my motorcycle shop and one for my patio audio system to help with speaker placement. So far, it is working well for both. For the patio, speaker placement and getting the sound to reflect properly in an outdoor space is important. This meter helps take some of the guesswork out of it so I can check different locations and see what is actually happening with the sound instead of just guessing by ear. In the shop, people are always asking how much louder a new exhaust is compared to the one they took off, or how much louder a stereo upgrade is at the rider position compared to the previous setup. Now I can give them actual numbers from a meter instead of just saying, “Oh yeah, it sounds way louder.” This gives me hard data on what an exhaust, stereo upgrade, or motor/tune change does for sound. And we all know in the Harley world, sound is a big part of the experience. Overall, it is a handy little meter and a good value for what I need it for.

Seems to work fine.
I bought this to do loudest bike competitions. I can not say if it is accurately reading the exhaust or not, but I can say it seems generally accurate and works as expected. The screen lights up so I can easily have someone stand behind me and see for fairness at my events. Its easy to turn on and use. Comes with a nice little case. Mic cover flies off when you get too much air blowing at it but I can't be mad at that. They are revving Harley's with it 4 inches from the exhaust so I'll take it.

Works great. We use it at dinner to determine how well our family is getting along.

Handy, Compact Sound Meter for My Fan Noise Testing
This handy sound meter is exactly what I needed for comparing the noise levels during my reviews of handheld and tabletop fans. It’s inexpensive, compact, and simple to use. The Max function captures and holds the peak reading, which is perfect for how I test fan noise. Yes, my iPhone also has decibel‑meter apps, but I trust a dedicated measurement device more. I also need my phone free to record video during my sound testing and for my reviews. When I recently reviewed three handheld fans, this meter made it easy to capture and compare their peak sound levels (see movie). The big 4" fan was the quietest, by far, but it also pushes the least amount of air (I also quantified their max wind speeds using an anemometer).

Great tool!!
Works great. Easy tool to use. I got this because I had a hearing loss & my Tinnitus increased a lot, & resultantly I had had sensitive hearing. I wanted to understand how loud things were around me.

Easy to travel with
Works great, the size, accuracy, readability, made this a great choice for bringing along for work assessments. Only thing is the black foam top comes off too easily. A bit of glue hold it from popping off.

Not great, but worth the price.
This unit is cheap, but so are the batteries, case, and included little screwdriver. My biggest gripe is that the battery door tiny black screw isn't held captive and the door itself has zero clips to hold it in place so if you lose the screw, you're going to have to duck tape the battery door on. The backlight is always on but the unit has a 10 minute auto off that can be temporarily disabled. Accuracy may be suspect but it should be good enough for relative measurements as the 'max' function appears to work well other than the fact you have to cycle power to reset it. All that said, I'd still say it's worth the price for the features it has.

I'm an audio engineer- bought this to keep myself in check - it worked..
This Tadeto Decibel Meter has been both a blessing and a curse in my quest to monitor noise levels... I get bunch of complaints as an audio engineer with my mix being too loud.. Anyways, its easy, its stupid, and it works! It measures the level not perfectly, but its good enoguh to get a general sense of the reading of the room. If you want something ACTUALLY accureate you would get a measurement microphone and use an actual software.. But this works for what it is, the battery lasts actually quite long. I have been using it for a month now, and I am still using the ORIGINAL batteries... so for what it is its worth it.

EVERY DJ should have one of these
I run a mobile DJ business and picked this up to keep an eye on sound levels during events and setups. It’s simple to use, lightweight, and easy to read, which is exactly what I wanted. The display is clear with a useful backlight, and the max hold feature makes it easy to check peak levels without constantly watching the screen. It gives consistent readings and is great for getting a quick SPL reference when dialing in volume. It’s small enough to throw in a gear bag and doesn’t require any complicated setup. For general monitoring at events, rehearsals, or testing spaces, this has been a solid and reliable tool.

Difficult to interpret readings
Difficult to read on many audio sources. This is my first SPL meter so maybe just how they all are. Used it to calibrate a phone app which gives a much easier to read graph.
