The PERFECT sunscreen for on the go
I carry this sunscreen with me everyday! It not only fits perfectly in any bag but goes on smoothly to the little kiddo I nanny (Sunscreen is approved by mom too!). Rubs in perfectly and hasn't come off even when the heat gets intense. I highly recommend too if you need something for a quick/easy application for any wiggly ones! I also forgot to mention I used this on myself too, the ingredients are so much cleaner than anything you'd find in an adult sunscreen.

Eh, better options out there!
Weirdly thick and hard to spread. Couldn’t get the white cast to rub in, kinda greasy, not my favorite!

Best for older kids (goes on white)
Sunscreen sticks like this are usually great for kids faces. They tend to not get in their eyes during application or after sweating/swimming. This sunscreen is scent/free as advertised and we have had no negative skin reactions. However, it goes on white. So you need to vigorously rub it in after applying of you don’t want to leave a white film. For that reason, I would avoid using it on faces of younger children/toddlers as advertised. This is also a small quantity so it may not be the best value for the current asking price.

Good everyday sunscreen that applies easily
We are devoted Thinkbaby sunscreen users when it comes to our son, but I wanted to give another brand a try so we have other options. I was immediately drawn to this product for its declaration of being reef-safe and cruelty-free. Those are non-negotiables for me when it comes to sunscreen, and the bare minimum must-haves. In this day and age, there are no excuses for companies sourcing ingredients that cause harm to animals and the earth. I also liked that this is a mineral based sunscreen and uses zinc oxide as its active ingredients, which my trusted Thinkbaby does as well. I was, however, unable to find Mini Bloom on EWG’s website, though a quick scan of the ingredients didn’t alert me to anything concerning, such as the inclusion of parabens and phthalates. As far as its application and effectiveness, I love how easy it is to apply in the tick form. I’m accustomed to using cream from a tube, so this is a welcome change. It applies smoothly and evenly and absorbs quickly into the skin. I love that it is fragrance-free as we are not fans of unnecessary chemicals and don’t enjoy artificial scents. I tested this sunscreen on days when we were in and out of the sun, and not during swimming or other active play. It did fine at preventing sunburn, and my son’s sensitive skin did not react to it.Would I recommend this? Yes, I would. For the convenience and easy application, plus its ingredients, I’d say this is a great option for busy families, and for those who are environmentally conscious. It is SPF 30 so if you’re looking for greater coverage, you may want to keep looking. It is also priced higher than my trusted Thinkbaby, which makes it take second-place on my personal list. Still, this is a fantastic option.

Not effective when used as regular sunscreen
Zinc oxide works to block the UV rays that cause skin damage by acting as a physical barrier, blocking all light, both visible and ultraviolet. If it doesn't block all light, it isn't doing its job. This product goes on with a slightly opaque film that quickly and easily blends away to near invisibility. I had my concerns about its effectiveness when I saw this, because it did not seem nearly opaque enough to be effective. I decided to do some tests.First I applied nice and thick smear of this product, Sunny Stick Mini Bloom, on my arm. Then I applied a thin smear of traditional 30 SPF sunscreen next to it. You could not see the traditional sunscreen; it was too thin to see. But you could see the smear of this product, as I left it nice and thick. Then I used a UV light at 365nm, which is nearly invisible to the human eye (you can see it with a camera) to see what the effect would be. You can see from my photograph that the traditional sunscreen appears as a dark, black bar on my arm. This is because it has blocked nearly all of the invisible UV light from reaching my skin. Just next to it you can see a faint orange smear. This line is this product being sold here, the Sunny Stick Mini Bloom. The zinc oxide it contains faintly reacts to the UV light to put out a dim orange glow. It has blocked some of the UV light, but not nearly as much as the traditional sunscreen. My concern is that when this is blended in as sunscreen typically is applied and as most parents are accustomed to, it will provide so little protection that it won't prevent their kids from being badly burned. To make sure that the product was actually not merely appearing lighter on my skin, to see for sure whether it was actually blocking the UV light or not, I repeated the test by applying a dab of it to a phosphorescent surface, in this case a disk of strontium aluminate pigmented resin. This pigment will glow brightly when it has been exposed to UV light. I applied a thick dab of this product, and next to it I applied a thin dab of traditional sunscreen. I exposed the disc to the same UV light as before, then turned off the UV light to see the results. You can see a dark smudge on one side of the glowing disk; this smudge is where I applied the traditional sunscreen. Even though the traditional sunscreen was applied so thinly that you couldn't see it, it still blocked a lot of UV light from reaching the disk. If you look very closely you can see another faint smudge on the opposite side. This faint smudge is where this product was applied. The fact that this smudge is so faint means that it was not very effective at blocking the UV light from reaching the disk. And that is with a very thick application. If this were human skin exposed to sunlight for an extended time, this is how effectively it would protect your skin compared to traditional sunscreen. Not very well I'm afraid. This is not to say that zinc oxide can't be an effective sunblock. It definitely can! But in order to do so, it must go on thick enough to block all visible light; in other words, you have to paint yourself stark white with it. This is why you sometimes see life guards with white smudges on top of their noses. If it's any less opaque than that, it simply won't work. That's why it's usually used only on a few small areas that tend to get the most sun.I don't enjoy giving negative reviews, but it's my duty to help inform people about my honest opinion of the products I test. To fail to do so in this case could result in people, especially children as this is marketed for, being seriously injured by terrible, painful sunburns, which could be dangerous and might even lead to skin cancer in the future. As such, I simply can not recommend this product.

Easy to apply
Review for: Kids Sunscreen Stick for Kids Sunny Stick Mini Bloom Baby Sunscreen Mineral Sunscreen Face Stick Toddler Sunblock Zinc Sensitive Skin Sun Screen SPF 30This small stick works great for applying on the face. It is easy to rub along cheeks and on the nose because the stick is small. At first, it looks white like most zinc sunscreen. After massaging it in, the whiteness is gone and the product does a nice job of protecting the skin. It is not irritating to the skin. I like that the container is small and easy to keep in a diaper bag or purse.
