Mastering Mathematics for WJEC GCSE: Foundation

This was amazing for my daughter who was revising for her year 10 GCSE’s. It helped her to achieve an A* so it was definitely worth it. It’s not a revision guide, but a book full of practice questions for the maths exam. The answers aren’t in the book though, they need to be looked up online. This wasn’t an issue because it helped her to focus on attempting to answer the questions rather than being tempted to look up the answers too soon. She said that it was very useful and prepared her very well for the actual exam.

Errers! Errers evywhere!This is more of a workbook. But there are no included answers. Which is not great but... meh. There's some token nod to revision notes/teaching material but it's too thin to be of real value. Would have been better to leave it out entirely.The real problem though is the poor proofreading. I mean, REALLY poor. So bad that after the first couple of chapters I downloaded the answers. And then printed them out so I could make corrections to the incorrect answers. That already contained corrections to some small percentage of the errors in the workbook. The whole thing is just terrible.What prompted this review? Just done one section. It contained 7 questions. How many errors did those 7 questions contain? 8.

Bought as a resource for my teaching to keep up with current GCSE levels. It's very good with all maths higher level topics and matching question pages.

Covers the current syllabus but worked-example coverage is often quite superficial. Lots of practice questions and new style numeracy examples but answers only available on-line (unforgivable IMO), many many errors and typos too.

Great arrived on time

A good textbook with relevant examples, but the lack of an index at the back makes it unnecessarily frustrating to use. The section headings at the front are no substitute.
