Mad Max & Sweet Sarah: 3 (Greek Mythology Fantasy)

Good read for kids
A children's book it is and should be taken like one. It’s fun, simple and easy to read with a tiny bit about greek mythology. It's an easy going story with a happy ending and overall filled with sweetness. The only con is that the voice of Sarah feels more mature for her age. The thoughts and thinking process feels more of a 16 year old rather than a 12 year old. But at some places her behavior becomes of a 8 year old. This is obviously the analysis of an adult but children will definitely enjoy reading this book.

Another brilliant tale - highly recommend!
I got this series to read with my pre-teen niece and I'm so happy I did. It was great reading all the way throughout and led to in-depth conversations about the characters - which, in turn, led to fantastic conversations about my niece and her peers. That's so helpful at this age when kids tend to open up to us less and less. Speaking of characters, we once again fell in love with the personalities that bloomed across the pages. My niece was a particular fan of Sarah; she loved her energy and enthusiasm. My niece was also excited when some past characters popped up again [as they did in book 2, Mylee In The Mirror]. I think the premise of this story was actually my favorite of the three. On the surface it was about family dynamics, featuring a young man trying to work out his feelings about his father and a girl hoping a relationship with her brother will be the answer to loneliness she has been hoping for. The main theme, though, was about the dangers of jumping to conclusions about others. In a time when the [political] news of the day revolves around the [potential] negative influence a person can have on those around him/her and how someone can wield that power in a very dangerous and destructive way, what an incredibly timely tale we have here to aid in opening important conversations! Just a side note: I saw in another review that a reader wished Athena had played a larger role in this book. Possibly that reader was looking for a similar amount of page space devoted to Athena as Persephone and Aphrodite were allotted in the previous books of the series. I don't want to offer any spoilers here, but while Athena didn't spend any excess time with our main character (a fact that seemed true to the no-nonsense and duty-driven personality of the Goddess), hers was not the ONLY ancient Greek contribution to the story. I'd argue that - all told - there was maybe even more ancient Greek influence in this book than either of the others. Anyway, - once again - I highly recommend this book to anyone. A great read!

A great read for children!
Max leaves his home in Hawaii and goes to Seattle to spend the summer with a father he doesn’t know and a place he doesn’t want to be. Max agrees to stay for at least two weeks and work at the local pool as a lifeguard. His younger half-sister, Sarah, is determined to forge a relationship between them and convince him to spend the entire summer there. Max quickly makes a friend who has some strong opinions about family and people. Although this is a fast read, it dives nicely into good communication and judging others. Like the other two books, Greek Mythology was woven into the story and brought new insight into developing situations. This is a great read for children with some good lessons that I also enjoyed.
