They came in with some brown spotting, but green enough to allow new growth. They've been in my tank now for a couple weeks. 125 gallon south american tank. Omnivores, but they don't touch these plants... nor my 3 anubias plants. Ammonia zero, Nitrite zero and Nitrates hovering around 10 ppm. 4ft led day/growth light. I have well water, so they get plenty of natural nutrition. Tank is lit 3 hrs from 6-9am and 3hrs from 6-9pm on a timer. Tank is kept at 79-80 degrees. Perfect conditions for low-tech plants without fertilizers. They should be showing healthy growth by now. I thought I was seeing new growth until this afternoon. 2 out of 3 are showing signs of dying and breaking off of the coconut husks. I do have two fx-6 filters running this tank, but these were placed where they do not see direct current. Not happy with this purchase thus far. If I see them showing signs of further death over the next week, I will toss them before they cause issues with my water quality. At this point, I would not recommend this product.

and somehow it seems that made it even worse. I popped them in the tank and hoped ...
I read the reviews. I knew that receiving a brown product was likely. I still hit the purchase button though because I was hopeful. Unnnnnforunately, I'm in the same boat as many of the other reviewers- they arrived partially brown. I followed the instructions on the package and soaked them, and somehow it seems that made it even worse. I popped them in the tank and hoped maybe they could recover. It's been 1 days so far and two of the three are like 75% brown. The other one is doing ok in comparison but it's still much more brown and dead looking than you'd ever want in your tank. Unfortunate, because they're great in theory. I do wonder if their arrival state has to do with the fact that they came packaged in a box with some other items I purchased, were not specially packed at all (no insulation or anything) and it was about 95 degrees outside that day. Will update if their status changes at all but I can't imagine it will at this point.

Very pleased with this product.
Very happy with these. I believe one "trick" is following the directions. When they arrived of course they were a little worse for wear. Directions state....acclimate them in a bowl of the aquarium water for 48 hours before putting in tank. I did that and it removed all the surface slime and loose pieces...and they ended up nice and green. My comets love them. Yes I'm sure they will eat them up....but I'll buy more. :)My own personal tip....spring for overnight shipping. It makes all the difference. And don't order them on a Friday.

came brown, in about a week - turning green
I live in a pretty warm city. So when I saw delivery confirmation, I went back home ASAP to open this. Our postman luckily puts in a shaded spot. When I opened up my 3 pack (1 was 20% brown, another 50% brown, and the last almost 90% brown). After reading some reviews, I was honestly disappointed, and expected to lose the brown ones. I soaked them immediately in a bucket of cool water, then headed back to work. 4 hours later, planted them. They've been in my tank (poor lighting, daily excel). It's been one week, The 20% brown looks the same. 50% is now only about 30% brown. What amazed me the most, the 90% brown, is about 70% - definitely improving. I thought i'd have to dump this one at the very least. My cory's slept on them the first few days, so they approve.

Non-performance
I was so excited about these and thought they would be so pretty in my tank. Unfortunately they turned out to be a bit of a flop. They have been in my tank for 2 weeks and have not done much at all. A lot of money for three little tiny pieces of coconut shell with loss on them that don't do anything. They look like brown clumps of yuck at the bottom of my tank with five random spikes of something that does not appear to be Moss.

All 3 arrived alive. Less moss than expected.
All 3 arrived alive and 90%+ green - which I was glad for, living in South Florida, where the temperatures are already high this time of year.Soaked all three pieces for 4 hours, and then lightly shook them under water to remove any loose or dead parts. Added to tank, with only that 4 hour soak. within a day or two, all 3 had "fluffed up" a bit and were looking more alive. It's been a week now, and all 3 are still alive.Subtracting 1 star, since the pieces had substantially less moss than the photo suggests. It's barely enough to cover the coconut husk, with the husk visible in a few small places, due to the sparse covering. All in all, the product is sufficient to my needs, as the most important thing was to have live moss. I now have java moss growing in my tank - with time, I can turn it into whatever I want.

Nice little plants. Beware of bacteria
These are pretty little plants. Mine cam with some brown patches, but that was expected. I set about to quarantine them for at least 14 days to make sure there were no hitch hiking snail eggs. I had them in a small floating isolation tank just inside the lid of my aquarium. Within a couple of days, they began to smell like rotten eggs. I soaked them in an antibacterial soap (I know - rinse extremely well before any contact with aquarium - not a problem). After a week of soapy water with water changes each day, some improvement in smell but still there. The plants loved thesoap and greened up nicely. A couple of days ago, I d/c the soap and started adding a generous amount of aquarium salt with the daily water changes - they continue to green up but still have something of a smell (nothing like they had before). Today I added pimafix and melafix to the mix because it's been 4 weeks and I'm ready to see these babies in the tank - I've read in some pubs that the smell is bacteria or fungal. All in all I'd buy them again but I'm glad they did not carry whatever that was into the tank.

They were nice for the first week; and even then the were crapy. They then began to change color into a nasty vomit brown and disappear. I thought they were eaten by my fish, but I found all the moss in the filters. I'm still finding the moss in the filters after almost month. All I have are coconut pieces with clear fish wire wrapped around them. Wish I didn't bother.
