Happy with the purchase
I bought this for my 20 month old daughter to have something educational to entertain her when I need a few minutes to focus on something else. We've had it for about a week and she loves and often requests "Mr. Goose" (the main host animal). I started her on the 12m+ setting but think I'll try the 18+ soon and see how it's different. The learning sessions have already gone from around 11 minutes to now 18 minutes long.Things I couldn't find answers to online that I appreciate: the brightness of the screen is adjustable, it isn't too loud, and you don't need to use the parent app, you can manually enter a learning session on the touch screen. As others have mentioned, the battery life is a big downside, it is sort of inexplicable that they wouldn't have improved that with the technology available and plenty of space in the body of this device. But we can get by charging it usually every other day a nice she's not watching it for hours on end. It also had one time so far it was a little glitchy on startup, which is concerning for a brand new product. I hope that doesn't happen often. The story books included are very mixed quality, some are lovely and some aren't very interesting or special in any way, they are the most likely to lose interest from my girl who adores reading books. They do seem to be quite diverse and come from different countries.Overall I appreciate the content and pedagogical approach. A couple of things that bother me but aren't deal breakers: The color song animation is sort of weird, it ends with painting a standard picture of a field and rainbow with the color of the day, and our first two colors happened to be brown and black, so watching them paint the sky and grass those colors seemed a bit creepy. Having different animation to go with each color and show where one can actually find it in nature on a regular basis would be lovely (tree trunks, night sky!).As a professional singer I also wish they had chosen to encourage small children to sing in the upper register which is so nature and vocally healthy at this age. Frog is the music teacher and he generally sings once through in a higher tenor register and then changes key for the children to join in, and that new key may be more comfortable for the adults recording the voices of the other animals but the original key up an octave would be much more natural for little ones to sing. If the company records new songs I would love to see this improved! From what I've seen so far of how the teaching is building, I expect that they introduce touch screen activities for the older kids to do things themselves (like choosing the red leaves, the pumpkins with the number 3, etc). All in all, I am pleased with this purchase and hope our AILA will continue to perform well!

So worth it
My little 2 year old absolutely loves this!! It is so cute, fun, engaging, creative, and graphics are so colorful. It is educational in a fun way. My son used his pointer finger (for the first time ever) and started tracing the letter F on the screen, when prompted to do so, with no help at all. He is also speech delayed but since using this he has started to mimic consonant sounds and tries to make the alphabet sounds in the videos. We have used so many other types of learning/educational videos to help with his speech and nothing else worked. This was the best gift we have ever gotten him.I would recommend investing in the screen protector, the case cover protector that goes around the screen, and the base holder. It is worth it to protect it.

Great Learning Device
This is a great little device for my almost 2 year old who is just starting to form words. I have great hopes this will help him develop his language skills. I did wish it was a touch screen for the lessons since he is a very "touchy" toddler lol.

Great for toddler
My grandson absolutely love this device, he's autistic and Animal Island is his all time favorite. I love that he can't touch the screen and constantly change the video. So far it's a win for us.

Fantastic learning tool
We got one for my son when he turned 1, just playing in the background caught his attention to the point he started doing the little games. He loves it so much he asks for "My Tablet". He loves it like crazy! He knows his whole alphabet and knows their phonetic sounds all from this tablet and he just turned 3.
