The latest installment of the adrenaline-inducing series built on speed the Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift will definitely bring the summer heat. The cast this time around includes: Lucas Black, Bow Wow, Brian Tee, Sung Kang, Jason Tobin and Nathalie Kelly. No Vin Diesel or Paul Walker. Director Justin Lin opted for a more underground feel, with some lesser known, equally, if not more talented actors to tell the story of the Japanese version of drag racing called Drifting. The main character in the film, Sean Boswell, is a juvenile delinquent who destroys a housing development. In order to avoid a prison sentence, he's shipped off to Japan to live with his estranged father, and it takes all about a day before he's introduced to the underground drift-racing scene by a fellow American buddy, by the name of Twinkie, played by Bow Wow. An explosive series of events is set in motion, climaxing with an ultimate high stakes face off when Sean falls for the girlfriend of a local champ by the name of Drift King. Score is done by Brian Tyler.

Brian Tyler begins his Fast and Furious Gig
After dance/electronic BT scored the first film, David Arnold (of several James Bond scores) came in to score the second installment for frequent director John Singleton. When is was announced a third would be made, producers and director Justin Lin took another course in composer choices. Who did they get? Brian Tyler. Those familiar with Brian Tyler as a film composer, will know his hallmark frantic action is genius. In several cases, he performs the percussion tracks for his music. So, later, he can conduct the (usually) large orchestra. So, it begins... TOKYO DRIFT is a terrific action film. Brian Tyler's score is first rate. Very exciting. When I first got it I left it in the player for many repeat listens. Yes, it is that good. Many modern scores do have the depth or articulation in it's composition. Great stuff.Footnote... Director Justin Lin and composer Brian Tyler return for the fourth and fifth parts in this ongoing action series.And... they are even better than this one. Get them all. WORTH IT!

Another Brian Tyler masterpiece
Please note that this CD is the SCORE for the film, and includes composer Brian Tyler's instrumental tracks that are used for Tokyo Drift's background music, NOT the songs included in the movie which were released on another soundtrack CD The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift .If you listen carefully, director Justin Lin has used some of these tracks over and over in his so-far three outings in the Fast & Furious franchise. This score rocks. If you liked the movie, you'll like the score. This CD is worth the buy just for the four fantastic tracks "Neela Drifts", "Mustang Nismo", "Welcome to Tokyo" and "Downtown Tokyo Chase" and the rest are a great bonus. If you like this one, check out Brian Tyler's other scores. "Children of Dune", "Lazarus Project", etc., they are all epic.

I enjoy this soundtrack tremendously
Unfortunately, this soundtrack did not have all the songs on it that I loved from the movie, but it still is a really good compilation of songs and is very fun to listen to any time of the day. This is by far my favorite CD that I own. The Tokyo Drift theme song by Teryaki Boyz is just a rockin' song; it is really fun and great for testing out sound equipment. Five stars for that song alone! If a second soundtrack was to be released, I would most certainly purchase it.

Nearly all the best tracks from the movie
If you liked the music from the movie then you will definitely enjoy this CD. There is a great selection of all the best songs from the most memorable scenes in the movie. There however is one exception. I would have loved to have the song that was playing when Han took Sean to the hidden club within the club that was full of the models. Other than that one track being omitted I really enjoyed this CD.
