Fabulous camera and instant photos!
Review for: Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 instant camera and film. I purchased this camera and film for use at a wedding reception. The camera, and the instant photos, were an incredible success! I spent the night getting to know everyone at the reception by photographing and gifting the instant photos to everyone there. Guests were excited and very appreciative. I also took additional photos of everyone as gifts for the bride and groom. I brought along some fine-point sharpies for folks to notate the photos, but that would have slowed me down, so ended up not using the pens. Some things to consider when using this camera: * Your best, indoor, photos will be a distance of no more than 3-4 feet. Any farther than 4 feet and the resulting photo really isn't big enough for details. Closer than 3 feet and you'll likely need to use the close-up lens (but the photo really won't be as good as without the lens at the 3-4 foot distance). I haven't yet taken any daylight photos, but I'm sure when I do they will turn out as well, if not better, than those using the flash (as long as I maintain the proper distance). * Refrain from action shots. This camera really can't focus and snap fast enough for motion shots. So try to stick to posed photos, you'll be glad you did. * Use the viewfinder as much as you can (to help position your shots). I found, as the evening progressed, folks were not always willing to stand still while I lined them up in the viewfinder, so a quick point-and-shoot photo, without using the viewfinder, worked well. Take enough photos and you will eventually get a feel for where to point for the best photo. * If you do use the close-up lens, remember to get closer to your subject, and also remember to center the subject in the lower-left corner of the viewfinder for the best photo, as the close-up lens is slight offset. * Have plenty of film on hand. You only get 10 shots per film pack, and then you're switching to a new pack. With a lot of guests to photograph, you'll be switching packs a lot. Remember, when you start a new pack, you must first eject the film cover sheet (a black sheet; not a photograph). You'll get used to telling folks why you're seemingly taking a picture of your shoes after every 10 shots. I've seen other reviews where problems with the film were reported (all photos black, colors bad, etc.). I had absolutely none of those problems. In fact, both the camera and film performed flawlessly. The 'official' wedding photographer was quite enamored with what I was doing. She was taking photos with a very nice digital camera with powerful flash, and I'm sure her photos will be treasured by the bride and groom forever. My photos, using the Instax camera, were not digital quality, but everyone had a lot of fun seeing the results instantly. I was accumulating photos - collecting photos in my pocket as I roved around the room, returning every few minutes to drop them off at my table) - and I found the wedding photographer on more than one occasion taking photos of the instant photos on my table. Everyone at the reception loved the instant photos that I was handing out, and the bride and groom loved the stack of about 75 photos that I presented to them the next day. Great memories of a wonderful occasion. This is a great camera and I highly recommend it for fun photography.

My Favorite Polaroid Camera!
I'm so glad I decided to get this camera! It's small with a cute shade of pink and takes really fun, high-quality pictures. With the right lighting, the photos turn out beautifully, just like with any Polaroid. I actually brought it to my wedding and used it at the signing table, and my guests had a blast with it! They loved how quickly it prints and the quality of the photos. Plus, the batteries last quite a while if you remember to turn it off when you're finished. I got such a great deal for the price! I even picked up some accessories to store the pictures and a nice case. I gifted it to my 14-year-old niece, and she was over the moon!

Great camera!!
This camera is awesome!! So fun and easy to use. I got the ice blue color, which is such a nice light blue color. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves to take pictures. The pictures come out instantly!! So many different film designs to choose from!! I started by choosing the white film and it is super clean and crisp. But if you do want to get this camera, just note that the pictures do not come out crystal clear. (they have a nostalgia type of tint to it.) personally, I like the way the pictures come out. Many different colors to choose from! Difference between the mini 8 and 9: the 9 has the selfie mirror implanted in the camera, (so you can see yourself when taking selfies). for the mini 8 you have to buy the selfie mirror separately. also, the mini 9 is painted a bit differently, than the 8. The 8 has more of a glossy shine, and the 9 is more of a rough paint texture. which I like better than the 8. Although, the colors of the 8 in my opinion are more pretty and they have nice pale, pastel colors. But if you like more bright, and bold colors go for the 9. But there is not much of a difference of the 8 and the 9. But overall i love my camera. (p.s. comes with detailed, easy to use instructions, and a bonus sticker. changing out the film is so easy too. Great as a gift, and great for kids!! I just love it so so much!! ( this review was written by my 12 year old daughter)

Still the best Instax Mini
So first off, I want to say that the white balance on the product photo may be a bit off. The camera is really more of a almost-Barbie fuscia than a grape soda purple, which might be a little awkward if that's not your usual aesthetic. And that's one of the very, very few issues I have with this camera. I bought this model as a replacement for my lime green Mini 9 that finally bit the dust after years of hard knocks. While I do have the newer Mini 11, I find that the 9 here is still my favorite version. In my experience, the newer ones with auto-exposure tend to make photos too bright - and in low light conditions, they'd rather make a photo blurry than accept a kind of dark photo. Much like the Instax Mini 7+ you might see at Walmart, the Mini 9 features a ring on the front of the camera that you turn to manually adjust the camera's aperture for the appropriate brightness. There are four settings, with helpful icons to clue you in... though 90% of the time you'll probably only need the first two. The difference between the two models is that with the 7+, you have to guess the right setting, while the Mini-9 has a built in light meter that recommends a setting using red lights on the front ring. All of the cameras I just mentioned - and really any Instax camera with "mini" in the name - use the same widely-available mini film that you can find at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc. The film is a good balance for different lighting conditions, and compared to Polaroid I-type film, it holds up much better in high temperatures. Rarely have I lost a pack of Instax film from forgetting it in a hot car. It's also not bad about going through AA batteries, though you shouldn't use rechargeables. (From what I've heard, rechargeable AA batteries will function, but performance will drop off quickly.) Lastly, one thing that appears to be unique to the Mini 9 is that there are a number of different colored filters you can buy for it (especially here on Amazon), that aren't compatible with later model Instax. For the Mini 9, Fujifilm bundled the cameras with a snap-on macro filter... and all the other filters, whether they're third-party or Fujifilm, also snap-on. There's some filters with colored gradients, some with that make a colored vignette, et cetra. Newer model cameras don't have this option though, because Fujifilm built in a macro mode where you just pull out the lens a little more.

Worth the buy! Read the instructions!
I am so so glad I finally bought this camera - it’s been on my shopping list for months! The camera itself is sleek, small, and easy to use. It fits comfortably in a small purse, though I am thinking about buying a case for added protection. Included with the camera is a matching wrist strap, close-up lens attachment (yay, selfies!), and two AA batteries. PLEASE read the included instructions prior to using. I’ve seen a lot of low ratings due to film issues that seem to be caused by not using the right exposure setting. I also watched a couple YouTube videos before using the camera, just to make sure I did everything properly. I also bought the value pack of film, since the camera purchase didn’t include any. The film is super easy to load and the print quality is amazing. The Instax Mini 9 is mostly automatic; it has a light sensor (don’t cover it when taking pictures!) that will tell you which setting to turn the dial to in order to get the best exposure. Do keep in mind that the minimum distance between the camera and the subject is 24 inches. This is where the close-up lens attachment comes in handy, if you’re looking to shoot selfies or close-ups. Overall, I am very happy with this camera. I think it takes the best photos with natural light or while outdoors, as it will pick up more details in the background. When shooting indoors, it tends to only capture whatever is in the flash radius, no matter the lighting. This is a great, simple starter Polaroid camera for any of those interested in capturing those “retro” style photos.

The Perfect camera for any age!
The perfect camera for any age! I absolutely love this product. It is so personable for all ages and customizable for all different crowds. The strap that comes with it is a necessity. This allows you to carry the camera with ease. The strap also lets you be able to hang the camera from a hook or a chair for when you aren't using it. The reason that I think that the strap is a necessity is because of the fact that the camera isn't small enough to throw in most common purses. (Unless you have a big handbag.) Fujifilm also thought of adding a little mirror to the front side of the camera so you can take and be in a photo with your friends and family with the comfort that you got everyone in the photo, and didn't waste a Polaroid. One of the small downsides is that the camera did not come with Polaroid film and the film tends to run and the pricey side. ($12 for 10 sheets) How I overcame this problem is by just buying in packs from Amazon and it saves you money and is very convenient. The final thing that I love about this product is the feature’s they supply you with when you purchase it. On the camera itself, they installed 5 different settings for the environment that you are in. (Indoor, dark cloudy, cloudy/sunny, sunny, and hi-key.) These settings help tremendously. You don’t get glare in the photo and they are well defined when they print out! Lastly, they supply you with a close-up lens attachment. (Selfie lens) This helps with taking up close and personal photos of yourself, friends and family. I have used this attachment a lot with taking up close personal photos of my niece as we have playtime. Overall this is hands down of the best purchases I have made this year. With all the features it supplies you with from the strap to camera features, the extra lens, and just the overall functional ability and durability of this product you can’t go wrong. This is a perfect camera for any age and being a polaroid it also brings a little history to whoever captures the moment!

Nostalgic
Okay, so a little backstory. I’m 22, I went to college for photography and my first camera was a Polaroid when I was 8. The Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 is amazing. I love it so much! I really wanted the Neo 90 for the creative possibilities but I’m on a budget right now and picked this for now. But I do not regret it. This is a great travel-sized “memory making” camera. I currently work as a mobile phlebotomist in donor services. So I’m always on the road with a small team setting up blood donation drives. We are very close and work with each other for long hours and long drives. They are my second family. So I throw this in my backpack with me. I plan taking pictures on the road or at drives and it’ll fun to look back at them, and hold on to. One thing to note about this camera is remind you that the film can be seen as expensive $12-$13 for 10 pictures. But this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Keep in mind that this isn’t something you are sharing with the world. Its not instagram, where you take a picture of your food and share it online. It’s something more personal and holds more meaning. When you take a photo, you aren’t doing it to show off to the world, and you only have once chance to take the photo. It forces you to be more selective with your subjects when you use it. And I love that. I shared some pictures of my husband (he wanted to take a picture of himself) and of myself and our dogs. when I first got the camera. I promise you won’t regret this camera.

Great Camera! Easy to use and High Quality Pictures.
The camera is so easy to use. The cartridges easily slide into the back and line up with the yellow guide on the back of the camera. Then you're good to take pictures. There's even a little counter to tell you how many pictures you have left in the cartridge, similar to a disposable camera if you've ever used one of those. I've used it with the close up lense and without it and it took amazing pictures both times. There is a little light on top of the lens that tells you where to turn the exposure settings to for optimal pictures and I haven't had any problems with it. The unit feels extremely durable. It's one piece of plastic and feels like it isn't going to fall apart anytime soon and will last for years to come. Definitely worth the $50 price tag, although I wish that the refills were a little bit cheaper, because it's about $0.60 to $1.00 per picture at this point, which is way more expensive than just going to the store and getting some prints. I guess it's more for the novelty of having Polaroid-type pictures. In summary, it's so simple that I doubt anyone would have trouble using it. Shots from the viewfinder are lines up perfectly, and same for the selfie mirror, so if you were worried about not having a screen to check the picture, you really don't need it. It's durable and will last, but it's a little pricey so use it sparingly!
