Camera Work: The Complete Photographs 1903-1917

Pure Poetry in Photographs!
If you love or are interested in the history of photography this book has exquisite images. It is light on text and the focus is on the actual images themselves. The print quality is beautiful! It is a thick book but small in size. I can see that maybe an issue in the future if the spine breaks but thus far everything is fine. If you are looking for an actual history book I recommend Beaumont Newhall's "The History of Photography", it is sublime!

camera work images
No text just images from a seminal publication produced by Alfred Stieglitz.

incredibly beautiful reproductions...
The writing was of interest but I learned much more from the beautiful photos...it happens that I have two collections of original photos from that era.

Priceless bits of photographic history
I love that almost all of the images from Camera work are contained in this volume.I do wish that the text of each issue was accompanied - so that we in the modern day might read each issue as they were intended by Stieglitz and Steichen, but that would no doubt have increase the price (single issues of camera work go for thousands on eBay)No matter, this is a wonderful piece of photographic history and belongs in the collection of the discerning artist.

Amazing but too small
This book is so full of amazing images. I just wish it were printed in a larger format.

Essential photo student book
Interesting book, but I definitely wish there was a coffee table sized rendition of this. The photo print quality is nothing to write home about. It's more about the content and seeing all the different photographs that makes having this book worth it.On a side note, I thought it looked terrible how the margins were massive at the beginning of each paragraph. I don't know why they made them so huge!

A very thick book!!! About as thick ...
A very thick book!!! About as thick as a Holy Bible!!! Some images are rather small, though. But nonetheless, the book is worth getting for its sheer collection of photos and information.

A must-have edition from Taschen
This is an astounding little book from DK! If you are interested in early photography, and especially the crossover years between photography imitating neoclassical painting composition and then shifting into its own new kinds of images. It presents the complete set of content from "Camera Work", extending from 1903 to 1917, with beautifully digitised images, and text in three languages. The cover photo of theatre and early movie star, Evelyn Nesbit, is a gem but, as with so many photos in this book, it would have stood up to print at larger size. It would be lovely to see a limited print run of this book in a much larger format In the end, its small pages size is my only criticism of it, but that it exists at all makes up for its size. If you collect Taschen works, then don;t omit this one. It is certain to rise in value after its print run.

Stgeiglitz - Camera Work
Although not a camera buff, I've always liked and admired photographs, particularly black and white imagery. This, dealing as it does, with photo-gravure is a bit of a new experience for me. There are some cracking images, as far as I am concerned, and this book should, in my opinion, be part of every photo lovers library.

A publishing and binding glitch ?
I find it very odd that the first section of text is in English, the second in German, and the last in French. Whilst the titles of all the images are in English. A publishing and binding glitch ?. After a bit of research it seems no it's not a glitch. However the listing on this page says English is the language and really you'd need a keen eye to see 'Mul edition' meaning many languages.

Classic images
A small book, but filled with some of the most classic photographic images. This is from the time when there were no snapshots.
