Had to ask husband to measure since it is his. Between 5 & 6 inches.

Q: Will a can of spray paint fit in the bottom and still close properly? Stated dimension is only 1.7"(?)

The actual height of the bottom is 5.1".Please try to measure the dimension of the spray paint for confirmation.
