Would this work for keeping open a bedroom door?

Like the other respondent said, a little modification may be necessary to mount the latch/strike on a hollow core interior door, depending on where you'd be mounting the latch. Any reason why a simple magnetic/friction doorstop won't work?

What is the diameter of the post? I have a post which is 17/32" on an existing gate and need a latch which will accommodate it.
