Mr Auto Ice Scraper Glove

This product is a bit of a no-brainer, really. I have always wanted something like this. I have been walking round for a couple of years with a piece of a broken shutter blind in a coat pocket in winter, to scrape the ice off my car windscreen and freezing my fingers to death, because i never have gloves with me when I should. or if I do, the gloves get soaking wet and my fingers end up aching.Now this came along and we have just had some really horrible icy weather for me to test it out. Basically, it is like a nice thick, warm and waterproof oven glove with a scraper built in. Worth the price of admission to stop my fingers aching and it will last for years.Recommended, as we head on into the new ice age..

The media could not be loaded.  Despite looking like Captain Hook's oven mitt, this bedazzled device does a good job of getting ice off the windscreen and keeping one's hand warm in the process. The handle of the scraper extends deep into the mitt, so you have plenty of grip. The scraper is a little on the narrow side, but very sturdy and sharp enough to cut through thick ice and get between glass and ice to help shift the ice off. Overall, very nice, even if it is a bit sparkly.Apologies for the dodgy camerawork, but it wasn't easy scraping with one hand and recording with the other.

This Mr Auto I2 Ice Scraper Glove sort of works and is a good idea on a cold and frosty morning. The mitt is a good size and keeps your hand warm, but the scraper is a bit narrow and quite hard work on thick ice. Not a bad design and reasonable value at around a tenner currently from Amazon, however I can see a time when I shall try to modify the mitt to hold my old trusty ice-scraper instead of the one already built-in. The Mr Auto glove is a handy product this time of year, but it is more suited to occasional use here in sunny Kent rather than in the more extreme areas of the country – four stars for design and quality of the mitt.

I thought I'd received this item just too late to try out during the recent severe weather here in Scotland, but obligingly my windscreen iced up again the other morning, so I was able to give it a go. It's lovely to be able to scrape away without getting frozen fingers. With your hand stuck into this cuddly, quilted mitt, holding on fast to the rod inside it, you can apply all the force you want to the ice on your windscreen. the scraper itself is fairly small but does the job perfectly well, and the whole assembly feels sturdy. Add a bit of de-icer spray if the ice is really think, and you're away in no time. I'm definitely keeping this baby close by for the rest of the winter months.
