When using the case in book mode do the back magnets stay attached to the back of the case? Also does the case stay shut when holding it upside down?

As long as you've got some support on part of the cover - for example, when holding it naturally, with a thumb on one side and a few fingers on the other - then the magnets will keep the cover secured in either scenario. I just tested it, and if I hold just the body by its edges, without any support for the cover, the cover can come loose. But I would never actually hold it that way. I've got no complaints about the magnets.

When the cover is open, does the Apple Smart Keyboard fully attach to the Smart Connector? in the 9.7" version of this case, it did not/overlapped.

Yes, the keyboard will fit. I purchased two, one that I cut the cover off of to use it with the apple keyboard and another cover to use when I don't want to use the apple keyboard.

We bought one of these august 2019 and now (feb 2021) it's cracked. should it last longer than 18 months? thanks!

Mine barely lasted that. What can I say? It’s a cheap made plastic product. At a cheap price. All I can say, I did drop it on its corner, twice. While it did protect my iPad Air, the second time, the lower right corner tab broke off. So, yes, I’d say it drops twice within 24-mths, it’s likely the corners will only hold those two drops. I’ve bought a ProCase now, we’ll see how well it holds up to normal wear and tear, and an occasional drop. Hope that helps.
