Great Short Works of Leo Tolstoy (Perennial Classics)

Some of Tolstoy's best stories are in this book. I highly recommend it for purchase as you will read and reread it often.

Tolstoy is premiere the Russian writer for me. His translated prose flows and his story line is easy to follow. He writes to illustrate the lives of people in Russia during his time. The characters present Russia society and each characters role in that society. I especially enjoy his talent for creating characters that are realistic people--not all good, not all evil, but a combination of moods which represent people as they are in real life.

I read a book before which I really liked. I was told that the writer's style was very much like Tolstoy's. At first I found his stories to be...very long and dragged out. But the power and immense value in each story that Tolstoy writes is more powerful then any song, movie, or piece of literature I have ever read. I have to date bought three copies of this book and eventually given them all out as gifts.... because even as much as I want to keep these stories to myself, I cannot, in good conscious, keep this to myself. What Tolstoy writes and gives in his stories are experiences. I mean the stories in this book every single one is beautiful and hits so profoundly.Definitely a Must Buy.

This was purchased as a used item, but received in excellent condition. The collection is quite broad and deep, and the quality seems very good. Highly recommended item and seller.

I could not get enough Tolstoy so I got this it does not disappoint. the Perennial Classics edition sadly does not translate the small amount of french otherwise no complaints.

For some reason, I cannot read Fiction, but I can read Tolstoy's Fiction. I can read Tolstoy and Vonnegut. There is something about these short stories that are so endearing.Some of the time I don't even agree with the point that Tolstoy is making with his fiction, and I still love the story for its beauty. His writing is both profound and beautifully simple and innocent. I mean, in the end...who am I to critique Tolstoy...the guy did after all, influence MLK Jr and Gandhi.

I purchased this item used and it arrived in good condition. There were no missing or torn pages, overall it was a good purchase. Also a side note about the author, I found this book to be truly enthralling.The author is definitely worth reading.

Well I am not going to write a review on the works of Leo Tolstoy but I am glad that the publication is of good quality and I know that the book's pages will not fall off - It's bound well and I received it on time.

The book was new and in perfect condition. Haven't found time to read it yet but looks very interesting and something different.

Excellent book. Unbelievably cheap price for the collection of this masterpiece. One must buy and read this book. Delivery service by amazon is just awesome. Really liked this book...
