Deadpool & the Mercs for Money 2: Ivx

Mercs For Money was just hitting its stride when Deadpool tries to regain control of his team from Domino. It's probably the closest thing to a workplace comedy in the current Marvel multiverse. However, that storyline was forcibly abandoned so the title can integrate with the Inhumans Vs X-Men event. It then became a convoluted and confusing story arc (especially if you don't have any background on the IvX saga) that involves flash forwards and typical mutant drama. The compilation doesn't supply any background outside of what appeared in the Mercs For Money title so half of the time I don't know what's going on. One of the title's supporting characters apparently play an important role to the whole IvX saga but because of the way it was written, I am not sure.The added Deadpool Annual doesn't help either. The Spiderman & Friends spoof was hilarious but the other one that involves a splinter AIM group is a one-off story that can be considered disposable at best.

This is a poorly put together compilation. The first part is Deadpool and the Mercs for Money #6-8 where the new team gets involved in the Mutant vs Inhumans war. That’s good. After that is Annual #1 which is supposed to be DP trying out an idea for a cartoon show where he just kills all the criminals. There’s a last part where he’s teamed up with a Goth hero that’s just a throw away.Overall the Merc part is good. The cartoon take off is funny. The Goth finish is garbage.

The Mercs for Money storyline is great. All the characters working for/with DP is great. They keep him in check, but still manage to cross the line. The Funko Pops are apparently somewhat rare for a few of these guys too. I loved reading it and look forward to more zainy adventures.

Not as good as the first volume.

It's Deadpool. If you are already reading Deadpool, you're going to like this book.
