Better than the average reader.
These are better than the average reading glasses. If you are obsessive about your eyesight as I am, these may be for you.I have used reading glasses for 4 years. Prior to that I wore bifocals for 25 years until cataract surgery corrected me to the way my eyes were when I was a kid - except for reading.I had been happy with the Foster Grants I bought at Walmart because they are inexpensive and do the job. But I wanted better lens - of the quality I had been used to when I wore a prescription - with a harder lens material and a more distortion free grind - though the distortion in less expensive readers is not very noticeable. Scojo uses aspheric lens. Look that up if you don't know what it means. Aspheric lens have less distortion and are thinner for lighter weight. Almost all prescription glasses are aspheric.Cheaper readers give you something that works for a good price. Scojo give you something better for a higher price. If you can't tell the difference - stick with cheaper. My wife compared the Scojos to her cheap readers and shrugged, but her eyesight has never been great. So I purchased the Scojo Gels Original. I have had them a very short time, but I could immediately see a difference in clarity. I admit the difference is small, but go back and read the second sentence at the top. They are also very light - the lens are visibly thinner - probably less than half the weight of what they replaced. The frames are more professional than the cheap ones and very light. They look durable enough, but judgment on that and their scratch resistance will have to wait. They cost twice what I had been paying, but I will pay that for the better lens and the feather weight..If you know of a superior reader, please leave a comment. I would like to know of it.

Light and durable
I have about eight pairs of Scojo reading glasses including my first pair, bought in NYC about 20 years ago. I’ve found other brands that look great but the frames fail after a year or so. Scojos have great lenses and they last.

Light weight but not level on face.
The bows aren’t easy to adjust to level on face. Not sure if the lenses are the same either??

WARPED, CROOKED ARMS AND PLASTIC FELL OFF
These glasses were a horrible disappointment. After reading that Scojo reading glasses were supposed to be the best, I reluctantly sprang for the hefty $42. Upon arrival, the arms of the glasses were so warped that it made the glasses sit at a ridiculous angle from one side of my face to the other. The arm also hurts the side of my head on that side. After taking it off and laying it down on a table, I could see that one arm lay flat on the table while the other one stuck up more than a 1/4". Same thing when held up perpendicular- one arm bent way in towards the head while the other was straight as it should be- explaining why it hurt my head on that side. While turning the glasses around to examine them, the plastic piece that covers the metal end and goes up about 2 or three inches on the arm just slid off in my hand and now just slides off every time I take the glasses off. The glasses don't even fit in the case that comes with them- they're too short for the case. Worse, the Scojo entry on Amazon says they are not returnable. WHAT? This is a DEFECTIVE POORLY DESIGNED PRODUCT. I would have been better off sticking with a cheap pair from Target.
