Great stuff
I rebuilt a portion of my exhaust and I had two flanges that didn't meet together like they should which left a small gap at the bottom. It wasn't bad enough to cause an audible exhaust leak, but condensation would leak from it. I figured some exhaust sealant would be a quick fix as opposed to resetting and re-welding the flanges back on. I was a bit dismayed when I received the product and realized it's not epoxy or solvent based, so I wasn't sure how effective it would be. I went ahead and tried it following the directions and it worked absolutely fantastic. It goes on fairly smoothly-- sort of comes out in globs, but it's easy enough to work into a nice bead. Evidently it's made from some sort of clay, but it worked like magic and hardens almost like a super smooth cement. I don't see it coming off anytime soon. Instructions go something like this: wet the area apply the product wait 30 minutes start engine and let run for 10 minutes. After that engine running period it's pretty well cured by that point, but I'm certain within a couple hours you're good to go. I would definitely buy it again.

Great stuff for repair
Stuff worked great for my application. I had about an 1/4” x 1.5” crack/ rusted out area in my exhaust pipe. It in right next to where piece of heat shielding attached so it was easier to fill, but it would of worked if it was just a 1/4 crack anywhere. Applied as directed and worked great, amazing in fact. It’s only been a week, so idk how long it will hold. The pictures show prior, right after application and fully cured. It smooths out nice too. Still for a lot left in the tube. UPDATE MARCH2020: so after about a year this stuff fell off, but I think it was due to some other variables. Still, for a patch to hold a year is great! I just applied more today, the hole is still the same size too so It’s good it didn’t get worse. My muffler has a lot of surface rust, but this is the only hole and it still seems solid- so if I keep patching this every year, for 6$ and about 5 min of work, I can’t complain! Truthfully it lasted longer then I expected. Probably enough left in the tube for maybe one more application (3 total applications, but I put a lot on). It still get 5 stars!

Has a limited shelf life but works well
The product itself is awesome. Seems anything I buy from Permatex does what it is supposed to do. For this particular "repair" I was a bit unsure as to which Permatex product to purchase. My motorcycle exhaust has a connection where the header pipe and tailpipe meet. An aftermarket "Jardine" exhaust and oddly quite a large gap at the connection whereas the bracket is supposed to crimp and does not do a very good job at sealing it. This may be how it was designed but for me an exhaust leak in your plan is not a good plan. Bottom line i wanted to seal this joint but wanted the option to take it apart to install new header gaskets down the line. Reaching out to Permatex they actually recommended a different product that was twice the cost of this with half the temp limit. I am happy I chose this as it sealed the joint and I was able to disconnect the pipes and install the gaskets. I am now looking to try a "lap joint" bracket as I would prefer a more permanent solution. I feel anything with the Permatex name is a good product but has limited shelf life and will eventually break down. The trouble is they make so many similar products it is hard to choose the correct one. In my opinion there is not one single best application for a particular project. Doing some research prior to buying is always recommended.

Must apply thick. Brittle coating can flake off.
This is decent and can work to seal leaks, but only when applied in a very thick layer. Thinner coatings quickly flake off. Dries like cement so it's very brittle. Any movement in the exhaust fitting will cause it to crack.

Red stuff is Sticky ! Gray, not so sticky. Both work well.
Whatever you do, don't get it on your skin. (The red stuff that is) I had to use mineral spirits to get it off (which I'm sure is a cancer risk in California. It's a good thing I don't live in California) Use a double layer of disposable gloves. Also, if you can't attach the flanges due to rusted bolt filled holes, go to harbor freight and buy the cheap mini vise grips, 1 for each side of the flanges. Lock 'em super tight and secure the handles with zip ties. (Our exhaust issue was that the muffler separated from the main pipe at the attachment flanges. UPDATE: I'm not positive that I reviewed the correct item. All I know is that it was red like the picture and really thick and sticky. A few weeks after this repair I sealed the top rear seam with a piece of a pop can, some steel window screen and the GRAY colored stuff, which comes off much more easily with soap and water. Sorry for the confusion.

Seals Exhaust Cracks
This product comes out as a thick paste, which fills gaps up to 1/8". Dries hard and slick. Does not do well with vibration, and cracks if the surfaces move against each other. That being said, this product stands up to exhaust heat very well, and as long as the surfaces are fixed, it will stay put. Be sure all grease and solvents are removed from the area to be sealed before applying. Good value !

Calidad mala

Waste of money
I recently purchased a product for my exhaust system, as there was some leakage around the joint. Despite following the instructions carefully, the paste came out within an hour of application. Additionally, after just two days, there's no sign of the product I previously applied. Based on my experience, I strongly advise "don't buy it"
